Ben's NB8A

Postby Benc13 » Sun Dec 08, 2013 6:16 pm

G'day Guys,

I have been planning on starting a build thread for my recently purchased NB8A :D

I have had the car since early August and it has been a great 4 months! I've been slowly doing this here and there whilst I save up for the more $$$ modifications!

The day I bought it 14/8/13

Unfortunately the same day I picked it up the fuel pump packed it in, so off to the mechanics it went & 2 days later I was finally driving it!

Some small modifications so far include:
- Clear indicators & reflectors from MX5 Mania
- Genuine MX5 mats from MX5 Mania
- Leather steering wheel cover with blue stitching
- K&N replacement filter
- Kings low springs
- Pasti-dip stock wheels
- New front & Rear bumpers (Waiting for paint)

I recently got the conditioning re-gassed and that was worth every cent! I love driving the car with the top down but when the suns is out & it's 35+ degrees it certainly comes in handy :)

A few pictures of the car as is now -

I'm not 100% sure where I want to go with the car but over time it'll all come together!

Future Modifications -
- X-force exhaust & extractors
- New wheels
- MX5 Mania CAI
- Coilovers
- New soft-top
- GV front lip
- Roll bar

Cheers,
Ben

Welcome!

A great base to modify! The black wheels suit the car well.

Although, the first thing you should be doing before modifications is replacing your radiator, it's on the verge of failing (with the brown top).

Thanks Revhead!

I knew I forgot something on the 'to-do list'!

That will certainly be next on the agenda (Before Christmas).

Ben

Welcome to the mx5's family! I like your steering wheel cover. Does it fit perfectly? Where did you get it from? :NB8A:

Thanks Mate!

I was very surprised at how well it fit! I got it off ebay for about $35 posted link to seller - http://stores.ebay.com.au/mrsteering/, just search MX5 and a range of covers will come up :)

It comes with instructions that direct you to a youtube link and the video shows you how to stitch it up (takes about 15-20min). It took about 2 days to settle nicely on the steering wheel (The heat helps) and after that it fits very snug! The quality is fantastic considering the price.

Regards,
Ben

A quick, cost effective way is just to get the radiator cleaned and the top end tank replaced.

Another option, is to purchase and install a aluminium ASI radiator that many members on here have installed. (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASI-Super-Cooling-52mm-aluminum-radiator-Mazda-Miata-MX5-98-05-/261145222770?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ccd77de72&_uhb=1)

More discussion re: the ASI radiator here: http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=54049

Both, in the end, cost wise, won't be much apart once you factor in labour etc

Best of luck!
