What tyres should I buy?
I need to replace my tyres on my 1994 na8 with stock wheels see above.
Looking for your recomendations.
I do not track this car, only general road use.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts

Round ones? Haha... only joking
Kumho KU31 and Bridgestone RE002 seem to be really popular and work well on the mx5's. I run the RE002's on my NB and Im really impressed by them and will probably buy another set when I need new tyres.
Nice NA by the way, looks very very tidy.

Re: What tyres should I buy?
I run KU31's and can confirm they offer both great dry and wet performance. They seem to be competitively priced compared to the bigger brands too. My last set wore very evenly (helps to have good alignment) and they wore slowly considering my driving style and the level of grip.

Damm I would have said that.
If the car is not to be tracked then almost any tyre should suffice. What is your budget may also help with responses.

Budget around $600 for a set of 4
But can spend more, not looking for cheap, but am looking for good value.
This car only travels 1,000 ks a year

Haha I had to say it, was the first thing I thought of when I read the title lol
Definitely either the ku31 or re002
The ku31 is a great tyre I had them on a previous car offered lots of grip in the dry and wet and lasted a long time even with lots of mountain driving.
My re002 are also impressive they have done about 10000 km now and 2 track days and have worn very evenly (good wheel alignment) and still have lots of tread left on them. Great dry performance and good wet, they tend to let go reasonably easy but that could be my driving or just the fact its rwd. All in all still a very good tyre, highly recommend them.

So you are happy with both?
Which would buy if you had to choose now?

Bridgestone doesn't make RE002 in 14". I have been happy with RE001 but I believe they are no longer manufactured. May be a few still in stock somewhere and, if so, should cost maybe $110 each.

I'm using Nexan CP641 on my roaduse 14s.
They're wearing well and have reasonable grip wet and dry.

I can reccomend the toyo cf1's that I am running on my car enough. Wet grip and dry grip are both fantastic and extremely quiet on the road. I paid $470 for the set from memory.

Another vote here for the KU31. Great value tyre. Buy them and put the rest of your budget into a quality 4 wheel alignment and a nice dinner with the better half

You can buy KU31s in 185/60-14 fairly cheap at the moment http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/KUMHO-185-60 ... 2f4&_uhb=1

Yea Im more then happy with both tyres, but I haven't used the KU31's on my mx5 I had them on a Suzuki swift and only the re002 on my mx. Id be more then happy to buy either most likely the re002 when I need tyres again but it sounds like you might not be able to get them in 14", in that case Id go the ku31. Kumho is a great tyre.
