Bracing installation problem

Hey guys, I was watching mighty car mods on youtube. And this episode they are showing how to install bracing under the NA. After I watched the video. I have a question. What happen if the car is lowered? It seems like all the bracing will be scratch the ground. Or is bracing only for use on vehicle that is not lower?

Suppose bracing are only good on race cars where ride height isnt such an issue. Bracing on road cars are for posers... LoL... no offense

I disagree bracing should net the same benifit on a road car or more as chassis damping may be more important to a road user the a track only user.

Then you have road cars that go to the track.....

If Mazda thought bracing was for posers then why did each model get more bracing then the last?

You do lose some ground clearance but it's not a lot. I know that there's a fair few decent scrapes and dents on my butterfly brace, mostly due to ripple strips.

There's also a bunch of the slammed kids in the states who specifically get frame rails and butterfly braces to act as protection.

i think the main reason each model got more bracing than the last was because of uprated power and/or slightly different chassis design. ...what i mean is that mazda did not do a recall on any specific models to add more bracing because they thought it was insufficient

also if you're driving within legal limits on public roads, i can't see why chassis flex would matter all that much

dont get me wrong...im not knocking those who do have bracing on their cars ...heck if I could afford it I would make my car rigid like a tank..plus i'd much rather scuff bracing than hit a sump or cat converter on a speed bump

There's plenty of bracing that doesn't effect ride height ... front sway bar braces, rear diff braces, strut braces...

The later NBs are something like 30% stiffer because of the added factory bracing.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

But obviously the NA in the video have a set of big wheels. Also I don't think that car is lower. So you could image if you have set of 15" on your car, lower spring/adjustable coilover. The car is likely scratch wherever have speed bump or unsmooth surface.

^ generally the overall wheel diameter shouldn't change a large amount with respect to rim size. Else you speedo will read "incorrectly". So you'll find someone running a 16" rim with a 205 tyre with have a lower aspect ratio (205/45R16) to someone running a 15" rim with a 205 tyre (205/50R15). If you work out each tyre's diameter you will have 590.9mm and 586mm respectively (Note: this is an approximation - different brand tyres of the same size can have slightly different diameters. Total wheel diameter is also dependent on rim width). So there is approximately a 5mm difference in diameter... so all things being equal, the car will sit 2.5mm higher... which means...

Point of that bracing (and their current series of videos) is they're trying to improve the cars handling on the track.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Butterfly bracing on street cars is an excellent option for those who want to modify their mx5, but dont want to change the looks, performance handling or comfort from factory.

If butterfly bracing does not improve performance handling from factory, then what is that for???

It makes the car feel more solid. It doesnt change its performance or comfort though or anything else.
