Speaker and weird window+A/C problem

Even though I don't really listen to radio as of now but it bugs me that my driver's side speaker is not producing any sound. When I adjust the balance to the driver's side, and blast the volume it only produces bass and nothing else (I also realize that whoever that hookup the HU and speaker previously must have inverted the position because I have to balance the sound to left in order for the right side to be producing sound)

I did swapped the speaker around and same thing happen, only driver side. So I don't think is the speaker's problem although I'm thinking of replacing them as well. Could it be the headunit? I don't think there's an amp install though. Been trying to find some retro looking HU and found this, should I be looking at something else instead? I don't really like the space age looking HU though


The other thing I realize is that sometimes after starting up the car, the electric window and A/C doesn't work. Depending on my luck, sometimes it work after few minutes of running sometimes it doesn't (unless I shut the car and start again)??

If you tested another speaker and get the same problem, it has to be either the wiring or the head unit itself. If you were really keen you could try pulling the HU and connecting new wires to your test speaker to confirm, or using a multimetre to test the resistance on the existing wiring would probably achieve the same thing.

Hearing low-volume bass through a speaker is a good indication that the voice coil has burnt out and the speaker is now only able to reproduce muddy sounding bass. The speakers were most probably underpowered and clipped to the point of dying. I would suggest replacing the speakers with a cheap pair from a mainstream brand such as Pioneer or Alpine and use your existing wiring. If you want to test my theory first swap your DS and PS speaker around using existing wiring and see what the result is. Can't help with your power window and AC issue

Sorry, didn't read your first post properly. If you have already swapped speakers around this would suggest a wiring issue
