Get Bryan shaved and help the fight against cancer

Postby Sailor » Fri Nov 01, 2013 8:30 pm

OK..Club President and all round good guy Bryan Shedden is doing his bit for men's health this Movember.
If donations reach $1000...he'll shave both the mo and beard.
For $2500 we'll see his locks on the barbers floor. :D
$5000 will see Kojak's return.

I know of the generosity of MX5 people, and what better cause than fighting mens cancers.
Every little bit helps to better our chances of finding solutions to these dreadful diseases

I thought you had to be clean shaven to do this. Didn't realise there was a reverse approach.

Hey why not?! When I already sport a mo, I thought the defoliation approach would create a bit of interest and help raise a decent sum for a good cause. I've had the beard/mo for a few years, long hair for 25 years, and a non-bald head for almost 43 years (I was a bald one year old). You all can decide how much of it comes off!

Latest tally shows $5200. 8) 8)
I knew MX5 people were way up there but this is a truely awesome display of generosity to say nothing of Bryan's outstanding ability to inspire.

Hopefully we will soon see a cure for prostate cancers which accounts for 30% of cancers in men

Congratulation and sincere thanks Bryan

I have my near new DAS-6 polisher ready to apply Bryan's choice of the finest Carnauba Wax, or Duragloss.

When I started Movember, my initial goal was only to raise $1000 to shave off the mo & beard. You can thank Rob who convinced me to make the ultimate sacrifice. Sincere thanks to Fiona for agreeing to my pledge – afterall, she is the one who now has to put up with my new look!

I have been fully prepared for whatever outcome, but must admit that I didn't really expect it would reach the ultimate target. The donations that have flowed over the last week have been stunning – the tally climbed from under $2000 to well over $5000. Thank you to everyone for your very generous donations, and especially thanks to those who rallied their friends and family to lend their support. I've received wonderful support from my friends in the MX-5 community and of course my family & friends – together they contributed about half of the total. The other half has come from my work friends and colleagues at Bluescope. It's very satisfying to have inspired such generosity for a worthy cause: mental health, prostate cancer & testicular cancer.

Now here is the first of your rewards … a video from the mo & beard shave off at yesterday’s Movember Arvo Tea at work:

I'm booked in for my short haircut tomorrow with a local hairdresser who has donated her services. I will share the Part 2 video in due course.

The big one – the great shave off – is likely to be early next week. My uncle has kindly offered use of his shearing shed and sheep-shearing expertise, although I gratefully declined the offer. Stay tuned. There will be video of the shave off too.

Oh … and please don’t stop donating! You can continue to show your support until the official Movember close on 10th December.
