dont get too excited. if auto then the gains will not be as close as if on a manual. the box just eats up the gains.

if auto, just dont waste your time and money trying to gain a few extra ponies. the auto box in these things are dinosaurs.

Awww...c'mon, I don't know whether you have dríven an NB auto but the box in these is not that bad. As I said earlier you only lose about half a second compared to a manual in a 0 to 100kph run according to performance figures.

Of course manuals are more fun & I take your point about the auto box soaking up a lot of the gains for this type of mod. That's more or less what I was trying to establish before I spent any big dollars.

i am not sure on torque. i would think that the torque increase would be a similar percentage to the power given it was on stock ecu.

i don't have a dyno sheet on hand and won't for some time as its in brisbane and i live in sydney.

with the ces extractors, 100cel metal cat, 2 1/4 zorst with hi flow muffler and a k and n typhoon intake it made about 84 or 86wkw. stock they make around 76 i think.

you can notice it a bit. its def quicker but its not a massive difference, just a little bit more everywhere.

for that combo i think i paid around 2000 all up but can't remember.

yes i have dríven one.

but you are only judging 0-100 times. so you are only judging the gearbox when the torque convertor is in lock up mode. outside of lock up mode, it's like any other auto gearbox, slipping, increasing heat and losing effiency, waiting on sensor feedback and thinking about gear changes etc. it's a dinosaur box from the 90s with 80s tech in it.

but if you only drive the car 0-100kph all the time, then knock yourself out. you theory is perfect. but take it to a mountain or have to accellerate and decellerate a number of times. then well i think everyone reading knows the answer.

you've also gotta look at whether the power gains will determine whether you need to start modifying the torque convertor. small torque increases wont need modifying, but if you really wanna up the power like numbers posted within this thread, then the torque convertor will need attention also. otherwise you'll just have more slip, more heat and even less effiency than before modifying then engine.

everyone in this thread is quoting power numbers from a manual car. in an auto you are only gonna see half what they will see. decide whether the dollars they spent to get those numbers are worth it when those numbers are half as good.

Yeah, I know what you are saying project.r & you are quite right about the torque converter. I tend to lock it in 3rd or 2nd for mountain runs and twisty bits locking the torque converter out & this eliminates the slippage to a large degree.

However you have helped make my mind up about mods for this car as it appears it is just not worth the spend. It is still a fun car for me as it is and my track days were over many years ago.
