Good to meet you too mate, haha. Wish I'd parked more near the middle, next time I guess :) Your car looked awesome

TY meanmx :)

It would be awesome if you could bring your car to the MX-5 Club's Bits 'n' Bling show on 14 September. We're expecting well over a hundred people to attend and I'm sure your car would attract strong interest. Even if you're not a Club member, you'd be very welcome as an MX-5 enthusiast.

Haha, thanks Guran :D I'm not sure if I'm free on Saturday but if I am I'll definitely be there, it sounds like fun :)

That's awesome, I can't believe it! It's actually the feature photo for that album on the Just Car facebook page!

A very belated update on the MX-5.

No idea what's happened here. It's a 3A racing air filter which appears to have disintegrated in a band around the middle.

It works! However it didn't fix my weird electronic interference issue I'm having with the TPS. The only thing left to try is to wire the ECU's earth directly to the engine block rather than the chassis. If this doesn't work I'm out of ideas.

I found out why the car was missing and the TPS signal was so erratic. I feel stupid even admitting this, but I had the +5v and sig wires swapped  Not sure how it was even reading, but it explains the misfiring and general crap running of the car.

With that fixed and a bit more tuning the car now runs like a champ. It needs a bit more tweaking in the transient throttle response and could also do with leaning out the upper load ranges, but otherwise it's running really well :)

Went to the MX5 club Presidents Picnic today and it was awesome, I've never seen so many MX5's in one place :D Way more supercharged examples than I thought were getting around, awesome :D

Cheers mate! Was such a surprise to meet anyone from the forum in South Gundagai of all places :)

The MX-5 now has the KL 2.5L engine and made it to and from Wagga Wagga without breaking down (much) :D

Since the MX is now working so well I've been concentrating on getting my S13 Silvia working properly without so much turbo lag.

:D 5.7 from a 2002 VY SS!

Jeo wrote:More things need LS's.

I agree, such a great engine.

16bit wrote:zorst, throttle body, intake and tune are surely good for 400hp.

and with a cam on top of that more like 400hp at the wheels :D

The Silvia is driving around now, I just need to fix up the exhaust, fix a few small leaks and... weld up a crack in the cylinder head :( In the rollover the exhaust manifold was ripped from the head and it looks like it's made a really small crack between the water jacket and the outside of the head. As far as I can tell it's not cracked into the combustion chamber or oil passages so that's something.

Anyway, I've been driving the MX-5 every day and it's working brilliantly. Still has a small oil leak at one of the rocker gaskets and needs new plugs, I'm going to fix both at the same time since they each need the intake manifold to be removed.

I just spent 5 1/2 hours cleaning up the garage and parked the two beasts in there for a photo shoot :D

I took a couple of quick gopro vids on the way to the shops today with the windows up, it captures the intake a bit better than the last :D

Nice work BB! You've got the best of both worlds - a small fast car to zoom around in, and a grunt-meister when you feel the need.

Thanks mate. Unfortunately I can't afford to keep both registered so once the Silvia is engineered I'll be cancelling the rego on the MX-5 :(

In the mean time I've just been enjoying the car, it's so much fun now that it runs well and doesn't leak oil :D Also the Silvia is going for undefecting and unregistered vehicle permit early next week. Then it's just emissions test, weighbridge, noise test and engineer inspection :D
