hit them with BS, they'll mess with you. hit them with rules, they have to listen.. otherwise in court their are applicable to suspensions and retraining. i have seen it happen.

I've made it happen. Took two officers to court over their actions and an unfair speeding fine when I was younger (30 odd years ago mind you ). Long story, but end result was I was still fined, though apologetically by the judge, the two officers were severely reprimanded and had to undergo councilling and retraining ...

The real result was the constant harassment I received from virtually the whole local station for nearly two years ....

When I tried to complain, both locally and to the head office, I was just told not to make matters worse!

Wonder how much has changed .....

Yeah I could see that happening years ago. Nowadays govt depts are scared s@#tless of the general human population. Doesn't take much to get you own way. Not saying it wouldn't happen in todays world. But with social media, television media, video cameras etc, bullies in govt depts are not far away from being shown the door.

makes for a bit of fun but of course its not right. In the olden days everything was pretty slack. The modern Aust is full of rules on just about everything - 4/ 5 decades ago you only had to pay your reg on a car and the rest of it pretty well got ignored.You could lower your car, fit a loud exhaust, triple carbs, extracts, different engine no security checks, drink drive, no seat belts etc etc. Modern media is of course out there and videos etc etc but a lot of it worthless and making a noise does not guarantee that one gets attention. The modern media eg facebook also gets employers looking to see whether Johnny or Jackie is really quite what they purport to be. As for TV- to get any of them to pay attention at all is only about ratings and trivial matters would not make it past the receptionist - oops err referrals and administration executive.

I had a police officer try and fine me for being to low in my WRX, mind you the car was stock. He kept hitting under the car with the stick hitting the side panel skirts and yelling at me saying it was low.

I'm a tech so i pulled out digital measuring clamp/gauge ruler. His wheel that he was using to measure was actually 115mm. I advised him nicely that i would putting the matter to my friend @ the OPI first thing in the morning and told him where i worked.

I've never seen a police high tail it out of there so quickly. I still reported him as i had his license plate. I was later told by my mate that they are sick of all the corrupt uneducated police officers that on a daily basis abuse there power.

Oh well, thats why the OPI exists.

funny how when you hit him with a little be of fact, ie 100 vs 115 dia wheel. he buggered off quickly. just like i said earlier. great story. and i've seen if many times.

most just dont use facts and just start yelling out the normal BS corruption, revenue rasing etc. just stirs up the coppers more. facts always make them s@#t themselve cos facts are what can be used later in court. and what gets them a recommendation for opi/cmc vist.

It all comes down to not being a d1ck when the police pull you over. If they are wrong then call them out on it with out insulting them. They cant remember all the rules. Just be nice about it and show them the facts and they wont bother you any more.

I dont think some of the stories even make sense. OPI is really stretching a long bow to think that issuing a canary for a car said to be too low ie a minor matter will end up in front of a OPI board which incidentally in VIc is overseen by the Police. If the police are provided with the wrong size wheel / measuring equipment then the fault does not lie with the checker. If a vehicle is within spec presumably that can be addressed without going to the International Court of Justice. Canaries may also have multiple items on them as well. I do agree with Pokmx5 you need to be civil at the minimum when quizzed by the Law. At least we have a Police Force which is by many standards is still pretty good- our Justice system is the one that does not work.

This I dont agree with. Sure its not his fault he was provided with the wrong equipment, but should he not check his equipment before use? Like any other employee in another workplace would? Someone has to take ownership for their actions right?

He probably swapped it himself, I couldnt imagine the wrong wheel being given accidentally, go to any maccas carpark and ask a brand new driver what height the wheel needs to be, he will know.
