Ok so I will endeavor there as it's my first time doing a soft top and well to be completely honest it seems very tight when closing it .
Can anyone answer if this is normal as they may need to stretch in the sun or something?
I have triple checked all of the install instructions and gone over everything and it seems fine in every way but just a little tight. Has anyone else come across this problem before?

Totally normal. Leave it up for a couple of days, and park it in the sun when you can. It will stretch out. Mine was so tight when it was first (professionally) installed that I would struggle to close it at all when the weather was cold. Now it goes up and down with no worries at all.

Ok thanks heaps it seems as soon as I fitted it the weather cooled down so that's probably not helping. Took the car to work today so it will sit in the sun all day and I will check it out soon to see how it went.

Maybe fork out a few bucks for a wheel alignment to specs available on the net.
More to handling then just coilover height/rebound etc.

The car had an alignment shortly after the coilovers were fitted and I've only done about 800klms since fitting them. It's not the first car I've built nor am I new to modifying , building and setting up racecars. Although I am going to put it back on in a couple more hundred klms to make sure it's still spot on.
I will have to do a bit more reading though on what people recommend for mx5's in the alignment as there's a lot of feedback on alignment setups for them.

Ok boys and girls thanks for the tips on the soft top . After letting it sit outside for the last two days it has really softened up and I'm able to open and close the soft top with ease now.

Took the car out for a drive to the last round of the drift series here in Sydney. Was also the first time all my buddies have seen the car. To say I was happy with the reactions received was an understatement. Had a great night out and saw some great door to door racing .

After all Of these mods I didn't take time to really notice how much of a difference the new toyo cf1 tires that I got fitted to the new wheels. This weekend has been the first proper drive over a few hundred Kay's. Must say I'm very impressed with them as a road tire yet they still hang on very well and are very predictable when pushed.
Am totally inlove with this little car. Ah I fear this madness will never end.

Another update , things are still progressing with paint touch ups etc to get it all cleaned up.

I have also been driving the car daily for the last week and a bit and to say my drain holes for the soft top was blocked would be an understatement. The whole boot and rh chassis rail were completely full of water. Seriously not cool lol.

Also during this rain I thought it would be a good time to go for a good ol drive to see how she handled in the wet. The car was a disgrace afterwards but I am pretty happy with how the car is turning overall now. With the coilovers slightly softer in the front to help keep the weight up there.



So I had to give it a bath shortly after to clean it up.




Next on the agenda is seats as my current ones are well .... Let's be honest I slide around in them a bit. The favorites seem to be the sparco sprint seats but I'm yet to sit in one to see if I like it or not.
Any suggestions on what seats to run boys and girls ?

Quiet weekend ahead so I figured I will pull my diff out and weld it up. Sick of this three wheeling everywhere and getting stuck on gutters lol.

Ok well to be completely honest after selling my other car which was built for road rallying .



Something has been missing and I am getting the itch to race again and well if it's going to happen I need to make it happen now!!
So after much thought with much thanks to my close family and friends I have decided to bite the bullet and buy a new tow car and compete in the targa series.
So there are more than a few changes that need to be done to get the car competitive and it will only be registered purely for the purpose to race on the Tarmac.
So please stay tuned as the updates for my targa build and preparation of myself and the car for the event is going to be rather large.

Ok so first issue is wheels and well let's be honest I need atleast two full sets inc a spare for in the boot just incase.
Now everyone seems to love the 6ul wheels from 949 racing so I have sent off a few inquiries to try and get my hands on some. After looking at the 949 website I'm pretty set on the new gold they have in 8" so I can run a 205 semi.



Are there any other wheels in this price range that seem to be as good??

Ok not a huge thing but a small update nonetheless. I have begun to list and arrange all my required spares full hose set coolant, fuel ,vacuum , various nuts and bolts also.
there's so much to do in the coming months and to also make sure that the car is race ready with more than a few shakedown runs.

My rollcage will be up for sale soon also. I will strip the car again so a full 6 point cage can be done. I'm open to recommendations on places to either buy a kit or somewhere to do the fit out for me.
Going to spectate at the tissue round next though so I can check it all out and see how guys get their cars setup to race and stay reliable.
