Mr M,
If you had been in Shitter's Ditch when this occured, ten spares in the boot would not have saved you. I would rather a jacket and tie, Dinner with perfect strangers would be so much more enjoyable than sitting on the side of the road waiting for a family member to turn up with "the really big jack", which incidently negates the purpose of a spare tyre. And as for the waterproof pants, that is just far to much information.
Greg.
P.S. I have a lovely dinner jacket and circumstance story that I would like to share with you should we ever engage.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

You've been banging on throughout this thread - and others - about how not having a spare tyre is akin to automotive suicide. And yet, the lesson I'm taking away from your little story there is that even though the driver *had* a spare tyre, your family still had to call you for assistance. How is that adding weight to the argument you were trying to make?

I didn't realise that.

I knew they had the option of space saver / steel / alloy, but didn't realise they had removed the option all together. (granted, last time I looked was about 5 years ago)

I guess it means we'll have to pack a really big jack as well as a wheel. I can see the left seat being removed and Mrs JBT going by bus.

Better still JBT

Pack the jack and TWO spares! Then have the car transported to where ever you were going, you take a bus and get a cheap rental on arrival!! Mrs JBT can then have the scenic tour at the back of the bus

It's like everything in life - everybody's different.
I never go out without a hankie but a lot prefer to wipe their nose on their sleeve (or somebody elses sleeve)
Personally I wouldn't go more than a 30 klm radius from my home base without a full-size spare (I have the original set as spares) but that is just me.
I'm a bit anal retentive. I've pulled a lot of people who aren't, out of the 5h1t over the years.

As the earlier picture shows, there is no room for a spare in a NC

No - nor an NB for that matter. As I suggested earlier, you would have to hang it on a removable mount at the back.
Obviously you would only go to all that trouble for travelling.

Rocky you are not the only one who does not go out without a hankie - I laughed at that.

Really? You can fit a 205/45/16 in the boot of an NA.

I tried to fit my wheel (stock size 15") in the boot of the NB after an oops at the track. I could get it through the opening at all. Ended up loading it on the passanger seat, which was fine.
