Parking might be an issue, so i'll do a search for cheap carparks nearby.

We don't have to go here, I just thought I'd throw it out there and see who wanted to go.
I'm not sure what has happened on the Facebook post I put up last night, but if you have a problem with me for some reason, please message me about it as I'm over people getting all sensitive over bullshit. I'm simply trying to re unite the mx5 community and have the one meet up place.

Don't sweat over it, Craig. Appreciate the effort trying to organise stuff.
Probably less keen on that Night Market thing cos I'll be heading there with my missus one of these days plus I like to just stand around our cars. I do like the idea of a photo session though but preferably not too late cos I need to wait up early for work the following day. So let's see,
1. Java Cafe, Yarraville
2. Embassy Cafe, West Melbourne
3. One of above (or any suggestions) + photo session nearby

Re: The Weekly Vic MX-5 Meet-up!
I'm all good, and I don't have a problem with anyone here. But there is no common place to meet up at the moment, as we all seem to disagree where to go. The way I see it, this is an open forum for a weekly mx5 meet up. Unfortunately our group is so diverse that well before the garage cafe closed, there was other group meet ups forming. All I did the other week was ask if anyone was going to Fat Bobs. No big deal. As it turned out, people from here went to 2 separate places that night, so you can hardly blame a Facebook event for ruining your night. This week I wanted to see if anyone was interested in going to the night market. I also posted the same information on 2 other mx5 pages.
I'm not sure where I'm going this week, but it'd be good to have catch up in one place.

well, for starters, it's a bit frikin rich saying "I'm over people getting all sensitive over bullshit".
To some people, this is NOT bullshit.
This thread has always been the place for the Thursday night mx5 meet-up.
Ronnie (fig) started the thread back in '06.
Anyone can join in, offer suggestions, or just lurk and rock up on the night. The process here is fairly transparent.
The aim of the meet-up was to have a get together to look at our cars (so close parking), chew the fat, discuss mods, have a cheap coffee and maybe a feed (and its open late).
All within a close distance to central Melbourne so as to not alienate ANYONE from the outlying suburbs or districts. 10km around Melbourne GPO was deemed fair and equitable to all.
The problem started when people started organising private Facebook groups (which is awesome and I have nil issue with that at all) and then
posting follow up from the Facebook discussions here (which I DO have an issue with).
Not everyone is on FB for whatever reasons. And definitely not everyone reading this is on the private mx5 FB page.
Keep the FB stuff on FB or start a new "Weekly vic mx5 Facebook meet up" thread.
In my opinion, hijacking this thread with whatever happened on a private FB page is not appropriate and is definitely not welcoming to any prospective attendees.

Re: The Weekly Vic MX-5 Meet-up!
We have 450 odd pages of Thursday night meet up posts on this forum. As far as I'm concerned this is where the Thursday night meet is discussed. If other groups have fractured off then that's their business. Alot of people are going to the JDMST meets which is their perogative as well but it is not an mx5 meetup, and while I do appreciate other models of cars I prefer to see what others have done to their mx's or help with advise as I have mostly been there/done that. I like to come out on a Thursday night where it doesn't take me an hour and a half to get there. I like to discuss the cars and their plans, after all if it wasn't for the cars we wouldn't know each other. And I like the friendships that are formed. I met Mick, Rod, Stu, Wun and Cheyne on these Thursday night meets, and now there is a new group of people to get to know.
I'm not too fazed about these recent discussions and the only reason I didn't come last week was because the meet wasn't arranged until the last minute and by that stage I couldn't be screwed. Other than that I will take it on a week by week basis as everyone does. The only thing that really annoyed me last week was the assumption that because it was discussed on Facebook then that's what's happening. You want to organise a meet out east then go for it, chances are that I won't come. If we organised a meet out west, I can almost guarantee that noone will come. Seems far more reasonable to have something central that won't alienate west, east or north. Then on occasion go out further after discussion on here, the home of the Thursday night meet. Skye's recent suggestion of a meet near the airport was a good one that I will go to even if it is more travelling.
Craig, this is in no way a dig at you so please don't take it personally. I refuse to join some pages on Facebook as it is far too time consuming. I would prefer to spend time on my car and with family than deal with excess amounts of data to sift through.
As for this weeks suggestion. I wouldn't mind going to the noodle market but I'm a little precious about my car. I can bring the Skoda but it sort of defeats the purpose of an mx5 meet and Thursday nights is one of the few times I drag it out of the garage. I'll see what others say.

.. dang, meanmx I was hoping you'd sneak my name in that post too /sniff
Anyhow, I don't want to add anymore to that discussion, after spending a day writing a 50 page report, anything more than 3 lines is too much.
So,
Where to, peeps? I'd like some photos taken (I missed the last one)

Lol, those people I have listed I've been friends with for 5 years or so. You are a new friend Shuey, that's why I helped you with your suspension and did all the "hard" bolts for you

I agree with what manmx and FFG said.
And for the record craig I dont have an issue with you or james for that matter.
Its the principle rather than the people...
As said by others. Im up for a noodke joint but somewhere that the cars can be seen. 90% of the time after food we end up standing around the cars anyways...

Re: The Weekly Vic MX-5 Meet-up!
Well it seems this whole thing is a new venture for everyone because its the first time since this thread was started that GC is not open for a prolonged period of time.
I'm a foot in either camp, I don't really mind who does what and where and who knows if its convenient/if I'm not lazy I'll go, if not then so be it.
I don't think anyone here has entered into the discussion with the intent offend or upset others.
So maybe its time this whole thing should start afresh and people can discuss the forum meet up here and Facebook stuff on the FB.
I'm available on Thursday, so maybe I'll say hi, if I'm not asleeeep (^_-)/

Actually before Garage we used to go to "The Groove Lounge" in Williamstown. This thread has been going way longer than just "The Garage". The only current attendees that would remember that is me, FFG, Rod, and Stu when he turns up.
