Each and every one of my cars have had something that make people stop and stare and ask questions.

Taking photos at lights, getting thumbs up, people approaching me and giving me appreciation.

Hell, one lady at a servo looked at my car, then me and said "your car is so sexy; I don't know what to do with myself." That's a quote.

It all makes it worthwhile and turns your average day into a good one when something like that happens.

I respect that you have your own opinion when it comes to the car you drive, Stan.

All I'm saying is sometimes it's nice to be different. We'd all drive Hyundai Getz's if we didn't seek some sort of diversity as people.

TTT - I'm not sure what that gif is portraying.

Of course its nice to have a nice car. Especially when you can be proud of it. But with MX5 is hardly a unique car. yes its streets ahead of any Hyundi in uniqueness reliablilty , handling & so on. but its hardly a Karmann Gia, Porshe 356 or a 1936 Bugatti......now for that, not even an old man would need a cockstrap to keep it up firmly.

Sorry that was suppose to read a straight Knurled pulley to the existing pulley.

Gilmer belt drive, toothed belt against a toothed cog, the sound is created by the air being squished out of the cog valleys by the belt teeth.

The wider your belt and cog set the louder the effect.

Sounds farking cool though :)

Or the ghetto way as done to an old Xb Falcon I had:

1. pull number 6, for mx5 no. 4, plug lead. There's a big set of lumpy cams. On the XB the choke was also pulled on, god bless carbies, You could turn up the idle speed on the MX.

2. Get waxed fruit box and cut section off. Attach one end to vehicle, other end to flap against fan of alternator, like the footy card pegged to flap in the wheel of a bike.

You now have a Gilmor drive on an MX with huge cams :D :D :D
