Stu, interesting you change down from 5th to 4th to 3rd at the Carousel. You may find it quicker and a bit easier under brakes to change from 5th straight to 3rd. It takes a little less time to do and you aren't thinking about 2 down changes whilst braking. With an "H" pattern gearbox it's pretty easy to jump one or two gears. On the track you don't really use the engine for braking compred to driving on the road.

It may help find a little more time.

C'mon guys, more videos, I'm living vicariously through them while my car is out of action.

Stu, looks like your next mod will be Stage 8 locking fasteners, inconel studs and resbond. Camera location was great though, I prefer it there.

Out of action? I thought you just got it back after it's sojourn in Newcastle. Yea, a few of the 86/BRZ Club came along for a look and that video was put together, not a bad little compilation if I may say so! Also not often you seen video of the cars, usual is all 'in-car' stuff

Yeah Roger, give a vote of thanks to your 86 mates. Was a good video.

I'm waiting to build the engine before trying to use the turbo in anger, it'll easily produce more torque than the stock pistons can handle, hopefully it will be started this month at MX5 Plus.

Kudos for the video too, as was already mentioned, was great to see footage from another angle.

Thansk for the tips on tyres Magpie, the new RSRs are grippy as hell. Started 26 cold before leaving, came in 32/33 hot on the left side after first session, 31 hot on both rights. Levelled them all out to 31 hot, no problems. Seems to be reasonably even wear too, considering I'm maxed out at 1.5deg camber.

Happy to help Trackphotos. Do you know what cornering G's you were getting?

Make sure you take the tyre pressures when they are cold and that way you can set the pressures quickly again. You can also thank MattR as it was his advice to me to target 31 hot on them, I did and they worked really well :)

If you are not on the track or pushing the tyres inflate them to about 29/30 cold as they will not get that hot on normal driving.

Seeing 1-1.1 G's through karussel, 1.3 through Hungry. Losing time exiting karussel I think, need a later apex for a good run out up the back straight. Down on speed, even compared to my first day there on the crap tyres. Will have to fix it up next time.

I've got to go down the road and fill the tank so I'll reinflate the tyres when I do. Went through about 40-45L at the track, 10 sessions so around 120km including in/out laps.

1.3 g on the 595's is not bad, you may not get much more grip than that without putting on more camber. However I may get corrected on this statement...

If anyone is interested I just put up a vid from yesterday. My camera had gone flat before my best lap of 57.44s but this one was not far off at 57.56s.

This lap was a little messy particularly just before the bridge where it came around a little too much to the right so I was wide of the ripple strip on the left over the crest, but other than that and the obvious wheelspin everywhere it was not too bad :D .

This is still with 2 1/2 year old NT01 semis and the locked diff which I feel is probably not helping the situation at all but it sure is fun

Cheers,

Tim

Wow Tim! It looks like a video game. All those corners just seem to rush at you. It sure doesn't look that way through my windscreen.
Thanks for the vid,

Gary was about to go out on his final run for the day when I discovered this on the right front. Damn glad I saw it. That could get ugly at 200 through the kink.
