1:10.1 and 162kmh Vmax on the main straight. Getting out of the corners faster is as good as power and much more fun.

That is impressive. I was seeing around 157 on the Wakefield main straight.
Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to look at his car.
Pity you can't bolt on talent or experience :-)
Seat time is coming, it just takes .,.. time.

David, I was referring to the weight of the seats plus the runners. The Sprint Vs are barely lighter than the stock seat. If you go for a FRP fixed back, they will be lighter than the Sprints, and for the passenger seat, just chuck out the sliders and bolt directly to the floor.

And as Beavis has done (as did Dann), ENTHUSIASTIC weight reduction. That will make so much more difference than spending money to gain 15kW...I can tell you, whilst I've achieved that (nearly 20kW) in my Integra, I haven't gained a whole lot of time at Wakefield.

I have a 4.1 in my car and I find I don't have to drop into second...if I get some weight out of my car (ie lose the soft top and insulation), I'd probably get a bit more punch coming out of the tighter turns in 3rd.

I have 4.1 in mine (nb8b) and go to second for turn 10 at WP (unless in traffic on other corners when 2nd comes into play also).

Helmet & flak jacket. Check!

That will be great. Thanks

The passenger seat is already direct mounted to the floor.
I can't justify replacing the seats, plus a lot of effort went into mounting the drivers seat so it was low enough for the tall person (me), and had travel so shorter members of the family can drive the car.
This compromise will have to stay.

I know someone with a 4.1 + 6-speed, and they have to use 2nd at Wakefield turn 10, and run into the rev limiter in 4th just before the kink. Still, a 4.3 is on my list of options to consider.

Why do the windows stay? They take all of 10 minutes to remove. Weigh a fair bit, up high, whatev.

Have you got 9" wheels yet?

Yup, I'm on the limit at the end of the straight in 4th...occassionally when I get it right, I can get into 5th for a little bit so I'm not screaming into the kink in 4th.

He's not allowed 9inch wheels within the regs.

I understand the point Dann, thanks, but for now they stay for practicality.
If I get really serious, then I will reconsider.

Is that with an Aus ECU, so 7200 rpm limit?
The case I know of 4.3 + 6-speed, he has a dedicated race car with a JDM ECU, so 7500 rpm limit, and hits that limit just before the kink.

David, a CF hardtop isn't all that expensive compared with many of the things you're considering here. If you can con Lightyear into making you one! It saves you ~20kg of high-mounted weight and I estimate that's worth about 0.3s from power/weight alone, let alone the improvements in handling. I was using a Lightyear CF hardtop for a short period, but had to leave the soft-top in place as a Type 1 requirement - so I didn't see any benefits in keeping it.
