The passenger seat is already direct mounted to the floor.
I can't justify replacing the seats, plus a lot of effort went into mounting the drivers seat so it was low enough for the tall person (me), and had travel so shorter members of the family can drive the car.
This compromise will have to stay.

I have a 4.1 in my car and I find I don't have to drop into second...if I get some weight out of my car (ie lose the soft top and insulation), I'd probably get a bit more punch coming out of the tighter turns in 3rd.
I know someone with a 4.1 + 6-speed, and they have to use 2nd at Wakefield turn 10, and run into the rev limiter in 4th just before the kink. Still, a 4.3 is on my list of options to consider.
