That white one is a very smart looking little car that doesn't show it's age styling-wise.

My MX-5 has been a daily on and off a few times. Personally I think the MX-5 is better as a second car, it really helps you appreciate the positives of the driving experience and forgive it's lack of practicality and everyday friendliness (especially when they're modified).
I now have a Peugeot 206 GTi which is a fantastic car for everyday, fun to drive, lots of torque, plenty of features and practical. I've played with it a little but it's still very sensible and comfortable. When I get back into the MX-5 it's much more special and fun now too. I just need to drive it more often as I've had to roll start it in the driveway a few times due to a flat battery...

Bensale ... get yourself one of the trickle chargers! I use a Ctec .8 amp battery tender and it's fantastic for cars/bikes not used regularly. I just leave it on whenever not using any car. Won't damage the battery.

Re: For how many of you is your MX5 a 2nd car?
I bought my MX-5 with the intention that it would be a second car, I used it as a daily for one year and really began to get sick of it. For me driving the MX-5 as a daily had more negatives than positives.
- Car had to sit outside in the elements at work, always seemed to get bombed by the birds and getting it to de-mist in winter was slow.
- Going to work for afternoon shift on a 30+ degree day was not comfortable, especially when sitting still in traffic was involved.
- Driving the MX-5 through the centre of the city every day robbed the fun out of it.
So now I have a boring ass car to drive as a daily - it has some airbags, the heater and aircon work nicely, it does not attract attention, is cheap to run, and can be put to practical uses when I need to cart people or things around. The only issue I have with the daily is that the seats are not as good as the MX-5s.
Driving the MX-5 is now like giving myself a treat, I drive it two or three times a week at most and it makes those times more special. Most of the drives are on country roads or late at night when there is little to no traffic, so I get to enjoy "just driving". I find it cool that the car exists solely for the purpose of being dríven, it is not used for going from A to B, or for carrying things around, it is just there to be dríven.

My NA's a third car at the moment.
I don't enjoy driving it in city traffic. Then again, all manuals suck in traffic. But it's still very satisfying on the right bit of twisty blacktop.
The NA is up for sale if anyone's interested (shameless plug) -> http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=60690
