Re: BEAVIS' White Track Car
He does get offended when people ask if it is a lightyear fastback. He did some of the work on it, but it is a lightyear design and built by both of us. In fact all the lightyear parts on his car have been built by him with my help.
The fastback is only a test piece, and once I move into the new place and have some time we will make a better one and he can sell this one.
My car doesn't get looked at ,as it is nothing to look at. It gets the job done, and that's all I care about.
Brendan's car did get some attention over the weekend and rightly so, it is unique, and looks great.

I seriously think yours is a great look. Have considered making BARMY look similar except the cops might start taking too much interest in that look in a road car.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Re: BEAVIS' White Track Car
I attended the 2013 Australian Super Sprint at Philip Island Grand Prix Circuit last weekend.
Little did I know I needed to have the car logbooked to fit into sport car class.
Nonetheless, I ended up 2nd in class (out of 3 lol) for non logbooked 1.6-2lt class, and about 58th overall out of 130 entries.
If the car were logbooked I think would've won class.
This was my last session of the day.
I am getting some clutch slip on upchanges in this video.
New PB of 1:52.2
Not a bad result for an MX-5 running stock driveline and engine and worth about $15,000.

Re: BEAVIS' White Track Car
Interesting video. It shows your car is capable of the same times as mine if you followed me everywhere. You lost some ground hugging turn 6 and Luke. The 2 cars are very close in performance and rightly so. Both are basically lightly tuned NB8B's. I Regret not trying harder to put a splitter on mine so I could take advantage of the wing.
You followed me thru turn one with no worries. Most people find that the hard one. We went pretty quick thru there...
Will watch it again, cool video. It is a bit grainy is the only problem. Need to upload in hd.

Re: BEAVIS' White Track Car
I can only manage 170-175km/h vMin through turn 1. You can achieve at or over 180km/h.
With practice, I can take more speed into that corner. You can see in the video that I still apply the brakes.
Funnily enough this felt like a messy lap.
I was extra late and wide at turn 4 hairpin, and was understeering like crazy through MG.
You can hear the clutch slip on up changes in a few spots. Particularly out of Turn 6.

Re: BEAVIS' White Track Car
There is plenty of track I didn't use on turn one exit in that video. Shows the car will go around with no lift. Just feels like you need to lift a bit. Old man syndrome maybe. Your life preserving brain kicks in when you rare going 180 plus around a corner. Wonder how that guy that won outright does it at 270??

Re: BEAVIS' White Track Car
So I've had the gearbox out to try fix the clutch slip issue. And while I was at it, removed the diff as that had a seal leak.
The clutch was new when I installed it 12months ago, so I was confident it wasn't the cause of the slip.
Found a collection of oil around the rear main seal, and some seepage from the weep hole of the trans. So I cleaned it up.
Removed the old seal and installed a new one. Also redid the silicone on the rear main seal carrier. Then bolted it all back in....
I can now get a transmission out in about 3hrs.

Re: BEAVIS' White Track Car
Also, decided I'd put a flat floor on the car. With rear diffuser and front splitter. Should be good for Philip Island.
It's not super low, but it is smooth.
Curve of the rear diffuser while still working on it.
Flat floor pretty much done.
Front Splitter.... pretty dodgy but it's sturdy.
Rear diffuser done, mounted nice and solid.
I'm clearly hard at work.
Also, bought an NB8B for $3800.... just need a bonnet for it now. Got a silver bonnet you don't need?

Decent buy at that money? How much work much does it need?
Can offer you a good silver NB boot lid, and a damaged SE front lip in Titanium.

Will be great to see the lap time differences with that smooth underbody.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Silver car needs a Door, Bonnet and Guard. Need to install new engine mounts, but I think I have some spare mounts somewhere.
The boot is ok, has some small dints but not worth spending money to replace it.
I will pass on the lip, but thanks doe the offer Dave.

Didn't help much at Winton, though tyres and brakes are a lot older than when I was last there. Only managed a few 10ths quicker.
Will post a video shortly.

Re: BEAVIS' White Track Car
Took the car out to Winton last weekend.
The Go-Pro hasn't been used in about 6 months so I think it lost it's settings. As a result the footage is a bit crap, I'll have that fixed for next time.

Re: BEAVIS' White Track Car
Have you measured the gearbox and differential temps before/after? I'd be pretty concerned about cooking them with no ducts/radiators.
