It also depends on your budget and the outcome you're aiming for.

With MX-5 club events, if you want to try and mix it with the pointy end of the field in group D (turbo MX-5s, V8s, rally registered and a V8 race car when Pete's finished) then softs will probably get you around the autokhanas fastest.

If your aim is more about improving your own skills and having fun on a budget mediums will last longer and give you more "bang for your buck".
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Thanks guys

I'm always trying to improve my skills but as soon as I pushed the S-Specs I knew I was starting from behind. Why would mediums be a a better bet for improving skill levels? Are the mediums easier, more predicable to feel/read?

I've been meaning to join the club ever since someone left a card on my windscreen, unfortunately my schedule conspired against that. I'll submit my paper work and get along to the November meeting. The next event is closed but if space is available I might try the 15/12 at RAC

They wouldn't, but you'd get more events out of them so as I say, better "bang for buck" in terms of seat time.

Well, I got a set of A050 205/15/50 s mounted on my 15x8 6ULs today at Wheels World Tyres and More in Osborne Park, great service btw
Thanks for the tip on the 6ULs in Sydney Manga.

Despite the damp/drying conditions they are instantly better than the Bridgestone RE002 S spec tyres, there is a bit of noise that would get tiresome on a longish journey but it's a nice counterpoint to the fuel pump wiring away in the boot lol. I haven't noticed any tramlining yet as the ride home was on decent roads.

Off to get the toe changes tomorrow morning. I'm thinking +1.5 front and +1mm rear .

My Velo GPT should be here next week fingers crossed then it's of to the Motorplex for some superkhana fun
