There is a reason 9 inch grinders are banded in the oil and gas industry. Far too dangerous.

Hope the hand heals OK, Ive been hit twice over the last 30 years and that feeling of fear after it happens is never forgotten.

holy sh*t those things are scary.

way too much torque for most people to be able to handle.

if it can't be done with a 100mm grinder....

Here we go fellas.

I chose not to upload the one where they were scrubbing it, however the photo of my face is during that. There is just a LOT of blood in the photo, sprayed everywhere it's not very nice.

This is my 'go on, scrub is harder you woos face', It really did hurt though.

So as you can see it wasn't really that bad in the end and I am back at work today so all good

A young bloke I know was in emergency when I was there who did the EXACT same thing but went in for surgery because he cut through ligaments and nerves for his dominant hand thumb. Thoughts go out to him.

BTW veloce, wood disks exist for angle grinders, sounds like a bad idea to me.

And regarding 9" grinders, I own one, it only gets used as a sander, but yes, the 9" grinder is probably the single worst tool ever invented. But when you have to use one it's the only choice.

They did a nice job of stitching you up Dann, Hope it heals well. Maybe have a week off to keep it out of the dirt.

Yeah the wound closed really well, it was done by a student, so it took like 2 hours, 2 goes at anaesthetic each (that is the doctor and student both did it twice each, 4 times, not fun) and the stitches were done a bunch of time, a few times went so deep that despite 4 vials of local I had to stop her and say 'you are going to hit bone, please pull it out and go again'.

But the end result was a very thorough job, the wound closed up very nicely.

Ouch!! Take it easy give it a bit of time to heal

Hose clips are dangerous too. About 2 months ago I reached down be back of the engine for something and pulled my hand out covered in blood. 7 stitches in my little finger - didn't even feel it.

Hidden cable ties that have not been snipped off level with the zippy block bit always seem to be hiding right where you need to go shoulder deep and out of sight to get to something.

I often call the zip ties you see on broken bodykits "drift stitches" haha

Here is some progress pics, warning to those with a weak stomach, I have been wearing good gloves but the downside is that you don't know when you are burning yourself until it is too late, so I need to get used to them... Again a warning, I had no idea they would look like this when I removed the gloves just now..

Just about every finger tip and my thumb totally missing skin.. I assume it's in the glove somewhere... That pair are in the bin now haha.
