HKS Hipermaxx - Thoughts?

Postby MosieurCinq » Thu Oct 31, 2013 5:13 pm

Hi All

Looking at some new suspension for the 5, and a set of these came up in my state for around the $800 mark (I think the ad may be on the forum, or gumtree, or somewhere!)

I just wanted to ask what peoples experience with them are, as doing a search I cant find much in relation to mx-5s

How do they compare to say, a set of brand new BC's for only a few hundred more?

Regards

PM Nitrodann or emily_mx5 for some feedback as both of them use to run them on their NA's.

I like these coils, but its hard to tell what the spring rates are, so you could end up with horrible bounce or back breaking stiff, as they aren't matched nicely with the dampener.

I don't often say this, but buy suspension new, you never know how trashed 2nd hand stuff is.

^this^

unless you know for certain the full history of the 2nd hand coilovers, if not, then they aint worth buying. better of spending the extra $150-$300 buying new.

I bought them 2nd hand with no known history.
Got them from yahoo japan auctions.
You will probably be like 4th owner haha.

Get the $1200 BC's.
I have been super impressed with how well they work (provided you have them set up correctly)
