Nope, zed driver in critical condition with broken neck and pelvic injuries, not looking good for him or his family.

I hope he pulls through.
Matilda of course had a similar incident earlier in the year, thankfully she was ok.
Maybe races involving GT type cars should have rolling starts.

Many of the SA sprinters know the Zed racer well - thoughts are with him and his family.

Maybe but it could have happened in any category. Thoughts are with the driver, his family & friends.

Hoping there is some good news.
Agreed, it could happen in any category. I would hate to see a move away from grid starts.

Apparently out if intensive care, but still a long road to recovery. Peter is a well respected racer and a legend in the zed community for his driving and car preparation, having one of the fastest group sc zeds in the country.

The other side of that argument though is you end up with a pack of cars arriving at turn 1 doing some very serious speed.
I remember a time when grid positions were staggered so you had clear view of the two rows in front of you. There was also 3-2-3 formations used. You are not allowed to do practice starts these days either so people get few chances to learn how to get their car off the line.

Yeah thats true. As I say I would hate to see a move away from grid starts (both as a spectator and participant).deviant wrote:The other side of that argument though is you end up with a pack of cars arriving at turn 1 doing some very serious speed.
Talk is that this particular car had a history of non-starting. Also apparently the same car that t-boned one of the Deckspeed cars.

I have an excellent photo of myself passing this lambo while it is airborne on the main straight at Phillip Island because of the guys inability to drive a racecar to an acceptable level... Unfortunately, I know the guy obviously loves the sport, but he is just a danger to everyone else, CAMS should really be able to review these sorts of things and look at preventing someone like that from competing in certain types of events.

Some scary footage on another forum of this car taking out a Lotus at SMSP, and coming sooo close to taking out an mx5 as well.
