Malicious Damage

This is exactly why I got the retractable hard top.

An associate of mine (a woman) who owned a Astra Convertible when they had the soft top told me a story that scared me off the soft top idea basically the story goes:
- she left her car at the mechanic in bayswater (first mistake probably) for a service.
- the mechanics had it overnight and had it parked outside rather than in the lock up.
- the car had its roof slashed and the interior so badly that the car was written off, no damage to the body.
- the insurance company wrote it off and purchased a new car.

I mean, the car was worth like $20,000 and they wrote it off.

My theory is that kids do this stuff, because anyone that has actually owned a car would find this difficult to stomach unless they had some person grudge against the owner.

For me, it wouldn't satisfy any grudge to secretly damage somebody's property without them knowing. If I had a grudge, which I don't, I would want their property destroyed in a blaze of glory whilst I stood next to it poking my tongue out at them. Surely that would be much more satisfying.

I completely agree and have heard horror stories before about that people do to soft tops. If the NB would have come out with a retractable hard top I would definitely have gone for one. Budget couldn't quite stretch to an NC unfortunately.

That's not really possible.

If you really hate someone throw a king mattress in their pool.

After the cleanup from the floods in Brisbane, I can personally confirm that this would be a great revenge tactic; saturated mattresses/couches/carpets are extremely heavy and require a lot more people to move than you'd expect.

You need a crane, or drain the pool. Both expensive, but the worst bit is when they invite all their mates to remove it, only to realise that its possible to get it to the surface but above the water surface it weighs almost 3 tonnes.

I disagree, I can't believe I'm sharing this but take it from someone who used to smash mail boxes and so on in his youth. Kids do this kinda stuff for no reason, it's not even fun. It's on impulse and because you can, that's as much logic that goes into it. Don't try to rationalise behaviour like this because half the time the people who do it don't even know why themselves.
It's human nature, deny it as much as you want but people are petty and violent deep down. Some people just show it more than others.
I regret some of the things I have done and so do friends back them too, you live and learn :roll:

. Everybody does stupid stuff they regret so don't get on your high horses, nobody has a clean slate.

Yeah, it's usually not a personal grudge.

Either kids breaking stuff, or just a jealous person with tall poppy syndrome "look at mr fancy pants with his convertible, I'll show that rich guy!"

To a lot of people convertible = rich.
Even if an NA6 can be bought for the same price as a 10 year old commodore.

Actually the volume of a king sized mattress is close to 1000litres and assuming the springs and foam take up some volume, the weight would be closer to 900kg.

Still pretty heavy though!

Nah you just need a friend or two, some rope or ochy straps and some brain power...

The mattress and base separate in an ensemble either way; relatively easy to move around whilst still in the water...

So you stand it up and have more than half of it out of the water - use ochy straps or similar to hold it for 30 mins and the water will drain out of the upright bit, then it'll weigh well less then 500kg - 2 average guys could easily pull it over/drag it out flat then, let it drain and BAM - Bob's your aunty's live in lover!

If you can't lift it, snatch strap it out.

I find going to the supermarket and buying a whole box of 'blue loo' style blocks much more effective. You can easily and quickly just launch them over a fence and into a pool without the need for an accomplice to help you carry them, also a lot cheaper and easier to move than a mattress and the pool will 100% need draining and cleaning :oops:

If you were worried about getting caught buying a whole box, you could go around to each supermarket and buy a couple at a time...

Best still though, if you knew who caused whatever beef you have, you could just go to their place and ask nicely for them to right the wrong.
