So I bought an ac compressor 2nd hand for my car, as my current one has a fairly annoying bearing rattle.
The one I bought is from a 98 model which would have run a BP-4W. My car is a 2001 model and thus BP-Z3.
The ad did say it was compatible with models 98 to 05 so I'm fairly confident but before I take it to my mechanic and ask him to fit it I wanted to check I haven't overlooked something. The compressor will be compatible with my engine, wont it?

I do, but I'm not mechanically minded at all - is it easy enough for me to see by peering in from the top?

The compressor will fit.
I've done the exact same thing (98 ac on 01 block) when I rebuilt my 2001 motor

Just confirming the above - got it fitted today and a brand new bearing fitted on the replacement so shouldn't be breaking any time soon.
Amazing how cold the AC is when it's just regassed!
Thanks for all the responses!
