Hey guys,I figured that it'd be best to make my first post on here one that's actually usefull
Just recently my girlfriends NA6 developed an overheating issue that turned out to be a dead fan motor.
I didn't have any luck with 2nd hand replacments and new oem was just way to expensive, so I did a little research and came across replacements listed on rockauto.com (who are great and cheap for difficult to find components) and noticed the same part number under a few Nissans, namely the NX and the Primera which isn't far off a Pulsar.
So I dropped into the local wreckers and checked out a few Pulsars and sure enough I found an almost identical fan in an N14 Pulsar. The whole assembly cost me $35 but all I wanted was the motor. The mounting holes and shape/size of the motor is identical with the only difference being a different type of plug and it spinning the wrong direction. The plug is part of the motor body so you'll need to cut the male end of the plug from the loom while you're at it. When wiring it in, switch the wires around to reverse the polarity. After that, the motor fits directly into the MX5 shroud and the fan also bolts straight onto the motor with no modification.
There's no benefit over an MX5 fan motor but they'll be a lot more common and easier to find as I could not find anything specifically for the MX5.
Hopefully this helps someone out of a sticky situation.
A cheaper / more readily available fan replacement.
