10 year old wet semis in 30+ degrees and dry

By wets I assume you mean wet treaded semis. Are they on wheels?
Probably pretty crap, give them a go and find out. Way inferior to 0-2 year old semis with little to no tread. If they're not on wheels, don't bother. Hard and old in the wet equals ouch.

A similar scenario cost me a clubman (Lotus Super 7) and nearly my life. Wrote it off whilst on the straight. Too much power, too little grip. Btw, my tryes were 8 year old Kumho V70A's.

Still haven't got over the experience. I loved that car.

They will be utter crap. They will be hard as wood and offer about as much grip. You have no idea how they have been treated or stored.

If they are true wet weather slicks they should not be run on a dry track anyway, they will chunk and fall to bits in a couple of laps.

So that would pretty much account for me being 10 seconds slower round Winton in an otherwise better car and getting more and more pissed off with myself every lap and every session?

Yup, also has the resurfacing at Philip Island made it any faster/slower?

Dunno. Not been back yet. Only just back on the track after major blow up at Winton 8 months ago.

Tyres like that are only good for a shake down to make sure nothing falls off the car and bed components in without doing any hot laps.
