Dann,
I'm impressed with this build man. SO for 2k you can get everything... Manifold, turbo, full exhaust and ECU.
How long would it take for you to fabricate the whole system?

Uhh...read from the first post. Dann is showing how a BASIC turbo kit can be built for $2K using as much of your existing hardware as possible.
You've obviously got to keep adding the dollars if you want bells and whistles.

Ditto.
It is an excellent write up but it helps if you read it from the beginning.

.. if you forego your paint job and throw in some extra loose change , then you can have this..decisions decisions.

$2K would be a stretch as a new ecu and wideband O2 will eat up 50% of that so of course it would help if you think as creatively as Dann was (ie borrow a wideband O2 sensor from someone, build your own ECU or buy a 2nd hand PNPMS2).
MX5 91 NA6 LE completely stock and loving it!

Bear in mind that Dann's had to evacuate his workshop in Heatherbrae a couple of times due to the bushfires.

Ahh, that explains why he's been relatively quiet the past few days.
Given that Summer hasn't really started yet, it looks like it's going to be a long bushfire season

Dann, I'm now re converted. The only thing holding me back is the engineering process (and a couple of months to save some cash).
Other than drilling the sump, do you need the car or have you done enough now that you have jigs for the piping?

Also can you recommend a good tuner in Sydney?

Re: How to turbo your NA for $2000.
outstanding work dann, really great stuff.
can i add my 2c, as to what i did with my cheap ass na6 turbo. instead of a standalone ecu i used a interceptor jaycar dfa kit ($80), and put the money towards an intercoooler and piping instead. those cooling pro intercoolers are damn cheap. the dfa only does fuel tho, not timing. but you can upgrade later.
on a club dyno day it did 120rwkw, (altho i also had a 2.5" exhaust which helped a lot). it was more powerful than the stock standard SP that was there on the same day.
the MSPNP is a better solution, but on a budget the dfa works ok and retains oem driveability off boost.

Re: How to turbo your NA for $2000.
i meant to add... i think many people are intimidated or reluctant to start a project like this because it requires welding skills. well, don't be one of those people.
you don't need to be a master welder, you just need to know one! you can do most of the work yourself, tack it together and take it to an expert like Dann to do the final assembly. they will soon tell you if your work is up to snuff or whether you need to re-work it before final assembly.
you can get an arc welder from bunnings for $98. even cheaper if you go on ebay. i got mine for $65 and can re-sell for the same or similar amount later.
http://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-140amp ... r_p6291451
really all you need to shape the piping and manifold etc is a $35 100mm grinder with some cutting discs and flap discs
https://www.masters.com.au/product/1004 ... 100ga-blue
this is a photo of a bicycle tube i shaped last night with nothing more than a 100mm grinder. practice makes perfect. get some old bike frames from hard rubbish and practice practice practice, before starting to cut up yr mx5
