Glad to hear this. I have mine mounted behind my driver-side foglight and in front of the wheel guard. When planning mine I looked into every alternative and rejected most of them because they exposed the oil cooler to potential rock strikes or too low and potential clearance issues.

For anyone who is still frowning upon the car being on the street like this, it was dríven to the location with the standard indicators in place and the number plate was then removed for the photos and the oil cooler mounted in its place. The car was not dríven like this. My intention is to have it in front of the drivers side wheel with ducting from the vent in the front lip and a mesh screen in the ducting as a last resort against rocks. I may or may not then run a switchable thermo fan on it, yet to decide.

jesseturbo thanks for the clarifications on when and where it would be used :) However a track can also send up a lot of debris, for example tyre marbles so don't assume that a track is 'clean' and without debris. Whilst watching some of the americans racing last night on the TV their helmets were pitted with impacts of debris from the track.

I went for the PWR oil/water radiator combo to solve the cooling on my ITB build and it works a treat, well still to find out what the ITB's will be like but the PWR did its job. If it was a track only car I would have goone for a much smaller radiator etc.

If ducting from the lip you may consider also ducting to the brakes as well. They will benefit especially if tracking the car.

Yeah I realise a track is far from clean, but as a token effort I'll run a mesh screen over it. The main reason it will live on the front then will be because I love the way it looks and will risk the slight chance of a rock for how good it looks ahahaha. I plan on ducting the brakes once I've upgraded them to NB bits and pieces, as it takes so little to cook the standard brakes that I doubt ducting is going to make a noticeable difference. I'm going to be running a Koyo 36mm alloy radiator, was intending to run a 50mm but clearance headaches and the possibility of air flow stagnating through such a thick core has convinced me otherwise.

You will cop gravel on a track as well, with a nasty result for your engine at track revs.

Why build an NA monster and base it off a NB6 engine? If you are chasing power, wouldn't it be smarter to base it off a 1.8? Extra 200ccs and way way better designed flowing heads.

Since you asked nicely, I'll just put in my honest 2 cents and say that I think it seems stupid to drive your car one way but then dress it up differently when people are around. Seems kinda fake.

Why not spend the time and money on some cool stuff that you can street AND show instead?

I'm not trying to be a hater, I'm just giving my opinion

On the right we have a suitably clad Superman - undies on the outside.

How can we take Superman seriously if he's not wearing any undies?

He loses ALL credibility as far as I'm concerned and the criminals will just laugh at the fact that he's going "Commando".

I think you're right. IMO the exposed rectangular cooler doesn't suit the rounded nose of the NA. I like the look on the original Celica and other square-fronted 80's Japanese cars, where the external oil cooler individually stands out but also compliments the overall design of those cars. On the NA, hmm, I'm not so sure.

Maybe with an aftermarket front bar that would add sharper angles or a wider stance to the front of the car, the cooler could work...?
