Noise in rear left corner

Postby chrons_rotary » Sun Oct 20, 2013 9:15 am

I have found that my 93 Clubman has a noise in the rear left wheel area, that i didnt notice when buying it.
It isnt too loud, but it sounds like a flat spot on the tyre. I had the rear tyres replaced but the noise is still there.
I've tried jacking the car up and spinning the wheel but there seems to be no noise at all when spinning by hand.
I'm thinking it could the the wheel bearing or driveshaft.
Has anyone else had this problem before?

Noise in rear passenger side of NA isn't uncommon - any chance it's intermittent exhaust contact? Btw, just remembered that's the Clubman Lou just sold, which had a tap in that area - might be broadly due to that?

that could be it,if its not a dry worn joint or bearing.jack back of car up leave wheels on,put blocks or reversed car ramps under wheels and lower back down.
make sure it is safe, cant roll away on you.(already been to one funeral this week!)then start pushing on things near the driveshafts.
that spare tyre and wheel should have got to laurens on friday but they left it in the back of mums car.it should be there now.
