Repair bent pinch welds

Postby zc32s » Tue Oct 15, 2013 9:59 pm

So Im trying to get my car ready for a Roadworthy in Victoria and currently the pinch welds under the car are bent.
The jacking points arent bent, just a bit of metal in-between.

Does anyone have any idea how I can rebend it so that it is straight? I tried using pliers but the metal wouldnt budge.

A shifter will do it in about 2 minutes.

What kind of shifter? Sorry, I tried to google it but it came up with too many different things.

I'll try a hammer and see what I can do.

Thanks NitroDann, I've got a few of those at home so i'll give it a go.

I guess the pliers didnt have enough leverage to move the metal so I gave up.

Use a couple of steel plates either side and a G clamp. This allows you to apply slow even pressure which won't cause stress and risk making them worse/weaker. Never use a hammer.
