13/10/13 - Barbagallo Sprint (night)

Postby Okibi » Sat Sep 21, 2013 2:42 am

Entries are now open for a Barbagallo Night Sprint being run on the evening of Sunday, October 13, 2013.

This event is Round 9 of Series 4 of the MX-5 Club of WA Inc./Wheels World Motorsport Championship.

We have enough starters for the event to run, but our optimum number for this event is 48, about double the
entries we have so far. With 48 starters we still get our 8 runs (if everybody behaves) and it brings the price
down really low. For this reason we have opened up the event and invited the Lotus WA Forum members to
join this event.

The event is now open to entrants in the following order of preference.
1. Members in any brand of car.
2. Non-Members in an MX-5.
3. Non-Members in a Lotus
4. Family and friends of members (Ones that you know well enough to vouch for) in any car.

Note this is a timed event and a valid AASA or CAMS licence must be presented on the day.
A competition licence takes a couple of weeks to organise. You need to attend to this now.

Read the Supp.Regs available from the event page and check out your event status while you are there.

Not officially confirmed, but I have been told that the entire track is now under lights which will allow us to run
both long track and short track circuits. Check In is at 4:15pm and we have the track from 5:30pm to 10:30pm.

Entry places are awarded on a first in basis so don't delay. To enter just reply-email to me with your name,
make and model of car and if you are a member in an MX-5, the class you are entering.

Championship points are only awarded to members driving an MX-5.

Entries close on October 1 at noon, We will fill this event so don't hang about.

Yup,

Rolled my guards this week so I should be able to put the foot down without cutting up expensive tyres. Still need to fit my R comps and take it for a drive to test.

Put the R comps back on and took it for a test, all seemed good until a few corners from home where during a faster cambered corner I heard the front grind on the guard, might need to raise the car a bit.

What needs to be done?

New harness arrived today, just in time.

Street='94 with FFS Coldside. Sold :(
Race='97 with AVO (soon to be Absurdflow) and GT2560 <--- sod that... LS1 conversion underway!

Great night.

Cheers to Warwick and the rest of the start/timing team for making it all happen.
Jeers to those pesky lotus's (gr?) for falling off the track and breaking down all night.

So question is do we run it like last night with invited guests or dont invite them and run with say 40 MX5's at a cost of around $85-90 each?
Would get more time on the track but cost a bit more - thoughts?

Personally I don't have an issue with the extra cost if it gives you more laps
(yes....I missed out due to a technical glitch with my entry form but I'll be there next time)
*spewing* I missed out :(

First of all, thanks to all the organisers and helpers. I'm surprised at how smoothly it all went.

My first high speed event and third event at the MX5 club and I'm still at surprised at how everything just works. I guess it's all down to cooperation and thinking about others at the end of the day.

For $50 to get some good laps in and check out how other cars go (damn those Lotus' sound good) I can't complain at all. Plenty of gas bagging to had during down time.

I guess I'm going to sit on the fence. Both have their advantages/disadvantages. Though I can only speak from a participants point of view haha
