Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Gslender, excluding the cost of the sensors as they are needed by both systems regardless it has cost under $700. Whilst not an excuse, the Innovate stuff has been installed over 12 months so has slowly been evolving, however I would not do it this way again. My logic was that Innovate was going to add GPS and output control on the DL32 however they never added these features and i had already gone down the Innovate path. if i had my time over I would go for a racepak dash and smartwire.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Well another visit to MX5 Plus today and Jason is really getting on with it
Rumour is it will be running for the open day (not with a full tune though).
Oil loss/low pressure insurance policy. Tested the alarm today and it is very loud so if this thing fires (or high oil/water temp or no coolant flow) the driver will know all about it
The spare tyre recess has had a plate put over it to mount the Accusump on it. The plate will have some cut-out to fit a fuel surge tank as well as hide the plumbing. Not much boot space left but it will be worth it. It was suggested that I may have to ask other MX5 owners if they can carry some things for me on a club run
Also no carpet in the boot now...

Steering wheel buttons. At the moment 1 button will be for PTT (radio/terraphone). Top right is the master warning light. The tombstone gauges will have one of John's custom face plate installed with a switch for the Accusum and maybe a push to start button. The AC button will just be for display purposes only now

ITB shot, fuel rail done. Waiting for injector plugs and LB01 bracket. Fuel regulator (including pressure sensor for data logging) installed, final resting place to be determined. Airbox still to be determined Danny and Jason have some ideas so the Pipercross may not be used after all, however the coolant overflow will be relocated to the hot side of the engine bay. COPs installed.

External oil pressure management, final resting place to be determined.

Racing beat headers (with EGT bungs). Actually a full racing beat exhaust and if needed a CAT replacement straight pipe. The EGT's will not allow a stock coolant re-route to be used so some more custom fabrication required.

The ECU wiring (Jason's job)

Hotside reroute is silly anyway.
Coldside ftw.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Well not much of an update, however the airbox is being swapped out for an air dome style filter whilst a decision is made on brake booster delete/pedal pivot point change. The dome filter is 65mm high so it will fit and the top of the dome will be 25mm above the trumpets. It also means that I may be putting a NACA duct into the bonnet to get some cool air to the ITB's. However if the NACA duct goes into the bonnet the dome filter will become the permanent solution and a Pipercross airbox will be up for sale.
The ITB throttle bracket and injector bungs should be here tomorrow and since I'm not home again till 06/11/13 with luck it will be ready to be dríven (after I pay the bill)

Yep MattR that was a very hard decision to make and I really wanted to attend. I may have to discuss with SDT if they can get a group of people together and run a weekday session.

IT'S ALIVE
It starts and it idles, many thanks Jason. However it now needs a new fuel pump, I dare say that there will be more weaknesses exposed in the next few weeks.

Where did you get the throttle bracket and injector bungs from? Are the bungs for the NB head?
Would you recommend?

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
They came from Competition Systems. The bungs plug the original injector holes in the head as they can no longer be used once the ITB's go on. Jason's plan is to tap these bungs and use them for idle air control. I should have ordered these in January when I ordered the ITB's.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Looking back it has been almost 12 months since I posted that the 1.8 ltr transplant was going to happen, I may have had the budget right but I stuffed up the time part. However and whilst this is not much of an update, MX5 Plus is still finishing off the little bits before it heads down to GT Auto. It also looks like I will have a Pipercross airbox and base plate up for sale when the build is finished as we went with a custom base plate to make it easier to fit the dome air filter into the tight area around the ITB's. No photos yet, however in 8 days I will take some and post them.
Also in 8 days the journey will end and another will begin. However, it will still take a few months to get the smaller bits finished, like the data logging and aero but that will be the start of another journey.
