All of the track in third. I found going back to second in the tight area screwed me up coming on to the main straight. It's actually the more open track. There is another track that cuts through the middle and is much harder! This was a sprint, so more open track and only fastest lap counts. The other is used for the autocross event, which is calculated on your best 5 runs. Both events have penalties for hitting cones and going off course. 5s/cone! So you really don't want to hit any!

Dirt sprints is awesome, spend a couple of hours putting the skills to practise today! Wondering if I could claim it on tax as work related education haha.

I'll have to have a better look at the vid, your lines look a lot different to mine, so I should probably take note.

Next meeting is the 19 and 20. Autocross will be Saturday night which is awesome, and sprint the Sunday to make up for some missed meetings.

Thanks! Is it like the normal street sprints at QR where anyone can turn up at anytime? As in it doesn't matter if you have done all other dirt sprints this year or if this one is your first event?

I will try and make that event, Id love to give it a go and as you said would teach you a lot about your own car and car control in general.
Do you need any special requirements to run in this event and is it only AASA license? Is their a website with info on it? I had a look on the QR website but couldn't see anything in relation to dirt sprints.

Not part of QR. google Ipswich west Morton auto club. I think it's www.iwmac.org.au?

Runs under cams, so need a day licence (60 dollars) or 110? For a calendar year ( level 2s, no medical required)

Car needs to pass basic scruitneeting , so blue battery triangle ( I use electrical tape) secured battery, fire ex in cabin ( metal bracket) and the normal track day stuff.

Road cars need CTP extension.

There I am!

It was nice setting really similar times in those last couple of sessions. It's interesting seeing straight away where I'm losing lots of time through the S sections; it's impossible get the power down on mid-turn like you can in the mx5. But the Clio goes great for a cheap, reliable little tracker; even if it is fairly hamstrung by those front wheels. Around turns one and two, I think the Clio could just about hold the same sort of mid-corner pace as the mx5. It's those tighter turns where the physics starts to fight you.

Yeah, we had a pretty good gap towards the end. I'll have to give you the raw video's at some point. The clio is pretty quick considering it is fairly standard (or at least I think it is). You going to come to the mx5 club track day at lakeside?
