Painted the hardtop I bought from Automotive Plus. Had a few dramas along the way with the original paint, so finished up stripping back to bare.
First go at something this significant, (and it shows), but it is better than the dark blue.

It's only a small photo, but looking at it makes me wonder why more BRG+Tan owners haven't tried it. Lots of guys have tan soft tops, so why not a tan hard top?

The classic color match ... it's got a 60's feel to it ... I really like it.

Doc, I spotted a group of corvette rolling through Sandgate this morning. Are you part of that convoy?

I used to live in Sandgate. But not this time. But I most likely know them.

Fitted up my Progress Springs, no more reverse rake. :D
And did the Turret oil fix to improve the gear change.
I'll know tomorrow morning if it's made the difference I hope it has.

Replaced inner gear stick boot, and the upper dust seal one. Then replaced the torn vinyl gaiter with a new (not torn!) leather one, and stuck the leather handbrake cover on as well. Then I went to Mornington and picked up an Mx5 mania front grille and fitted that.

Next up is a really good polish and wax. While I'm at it I'll polish the cloudy headlights

Changed my gearbox and diff oil a few weeks ago. What a drama it was to get the oil in. As soon as I finished, I went hunting on the web for a solution, and came up with this, which is distributed by Macnaught in Aus.
Image
I sourced it through Trade Tools, who kindly ordered it in for me. Total cost was approx $24.

Fortunately(?) the oil I used (Titan LS 80-90), which I had lying around, didn't prove up to the job in the gearbox. I changed it again today, using the new pump. What a difference this little sucker (sic) made! Took about 5 minutes to fill the box, rather than 30-40min the last time. I attempted to get the recommended Redline MTL from Bursons Toowoomba, but they didn't have any stock. As I am driving to Sydney on Tuesday, I needed to get the box operational, so bought some Penrite synth 75-90. I will find out how this goes this afternoon. Couldn't be any worse than the Titan.

I manufactured (sounds impressive, but the actual process doesn't really rate such a big word) a bracket to hold my two Go-pros onto the wind blocker (WB). It is made out of PVC pipe, which has been moulded using a heat gun to clip over the WB. I will be finishing it off with a lick of paint later on. Just needed to ensure it would stay put before I bothered!

Added a 3plug/2USB port power outlet to the LHS of the console to power the cameras
Image
And finally, fabricated a cup holder to replace the ashtray
Image

Edit: I realise the cup holder and camera mount are a bit on the tacky side, but they are functional!
EditEdit: I forgot to mention getting the A/C gassed this morning. The guy who did it came and told me, before doing the job, that the existing gas was 'the old stuff', indicating that it was probably original, and that while the A/C wasn't cold, merely cool, it was a hell of an effort for something this old! A couple of hundred dollars later, all up to date with gas type, and nice cold air again.
