Anybody remember Djhives?
welded a couple of flat sections of steel over the boot opening and claimed it felt much stiffer.

Yeah.
He was an "interesting" individual if you did some e-stalking.
Banned from pretty much every forum, has written a book which is banned from import to Australia because it contains some apparently rather violent and hate filled speech.
And some other stuff that I can't remember now.
But yeah.

So they doubled the horsepower on a $2000 car without any real attention to suspension, brakes, cooling or the rest of the drivetrain? Great example for their audience, which mostly consists of teenagers just getting into cars.
(Even if this isn't 100% correct, it's the impression that I get from the videos.)

They do address it.
He ends up putting some new shocks and springs, I believe he ends up putting bigger brakes, does what seems to be the coolant reroute, and recommends an LSD and something else too.

I think what Paul means, which I have thought from the beginning, is that they went straight to power, and left all the other bits till after. Not a very wholistic approach to it :/

Lets be fair, they are addressing the other things AND teaching their audience to "take it to the track".
Did they do it all at once? Hell no, they're using the MX-5 to do a series of videos.
I have a huge amount of respect for the hard work and hours these guys put in to produce their show.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

They don't actually make much - well under what I'd imagine the average hourly wage of forum users on here make.
If they wanted to sell out they had the opportunity to make good money at one stage, save for a lack of ideas on what to make new episodes about...
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

I'd really nee to see proof of that.
You can easily do the math on what they earn from youtube page views and its like 8k/month not including any merch or advertising.

He has done some pretty big name stuff and you'd be surprised on how much of his stuff you actually see on tv.
Hyundai, Domino's Pizza, Jetstar, Nova, AAMI, Origin Energy and Mazda to name a few.
A few examples.
