The majority have Rover K series motors. No factory Lotus has ever had a Honda engine.

Done some reasearch and up til 05 they used the rover engine, then went to the toyota engine and the 111r came with toyota engine supercharged producing nearly 200kw

Unfortunately there are a bunch of the Lotus/ Hondas running, they just seam to run all types of supercharger and one even had flappy paddle sequential box, they should never have been allowed to run.

Re: Whats happening to the MX5 racing??
I was just reading the specs for SuperMiata on an email I received this morning. I reckon this sounds great and surely a car could be built for $10-15K. With the minimum weight at 1043kgs, being road registered wouldn't be a problem either. If only we had gone this way before everyone tossed $30-40K building a competitive 2F car.
Here is the email:
SuperMiata is all about safe, fun, affordable racing. No expensive., fast wearing tires. No high entry fees. No plastic trophies. For the remainder of the 2013 season, we are allowing any and all Miatas 1990-2013 with any level of modifications to join in. For the first full season in 2014, we have separate the field into two waves, those built to SuperMiata spec and a second wave for all other Miatas. Only cars built to SuperMiata regulations will be eligible to score points and prizes.
Brief description of a SuperMiata:
90-05 Miata
BP 1.8 engine, completely stock long block
7000rpm rev limit
Any header of lass than $500 retail value
Any programmable ECU
Any cold air intake
Any exhaust
Pump gas or E85
-These mods easily bring power to the 140whp cap
2300lbs comp weight (1043kgs)
Front "EP" style air dam
Rear duck tail spoiler
Any single adjustable coilover and spring rates
Any one piece sway bars
Any wheel
Spec tire is the 205/50/15 Maxxis RC-1 race tire
SuperMiatas will run 1-2 seconds under Spec Miata lap records with a harder compound tire and cost less than half as much to build.

Re: Whats happening to the MX5 racing??
I used to say that. In fact you can probably quote me saying it in this thread. Is it though? Most existing 2F cars could be converted to this formula for not very much money at all. With top end 2F MX5's now costing $40K+ to build, I think their days could be numbered. Nobody has built a fresh car this year. I don't remember the last year that was true.

Great idea, supermiata... in a perfect world...... I think we are too far down the path here now (at least in NSW). There would be too many 2f cars needing to find standard blocks, heads, cams. And where does that leave NCs?

Is for me,
I'm on a boat.
PSCRAQ, would have to run it. It's way to hard to get grid spots.
I was even going to put the cash to get something like this running.
Way to many road blocks...... PSCRAQ was one of them, you would think they own the right to mx5s. Then there's dealing with QR.
I.M.O MSC seems to be the way to go.
