Any Kiwis here? Holiday in Queenstown. Only had a rental, but those roads around Queenstown made me yearn for my mx5.

Queenstown to Glenorchy and Queenstown to Wanaka via Crown Range are absolutely stunning and flowing snaking roads to go with the scenery.

Saw a few mx5's parked around Queenstown, so there are a few locals who are in the know.

Was there a few years ago and loved the roads...but I was in a Tarago. Still good driving though!

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I went for a North Island visit in april (First time) Drove from Auckland to Napier in an auto Mazda 6. The mountains were amazing - every corner cambered perfectly. Next time I go over I will definitely be hiring a (manual of course) five for a few days! :D

I was there for a month about 12 months ago. Truly amazing roads.
Hoping to be back there for Xmas this year & will be driving the whole time instead of with a tour bus as I did last time.
Will be hopefully hiring something a little better than a Suzuki Swift like I had when I was in the North island.

Highly recommend the drive around South Island. Spent 10 wonderful days back in Nov 2013 in a NB1... attached photo taken at night at Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park - enjoy!

Also, just wanted to put in a plug for MX-5 Touring, whom we rented the car from out of Christchurch... http://www.mx5touring.co.nz/ ... husband and wife operation, speak to Bryan Laws and his wife Pamela who was very friendly and accomodating.
