It will be hard to get a steady timing indication if the idle speed is fluctuating. The diagnostic box TEN and GND pins need to be bridged to set the base idle. If you can't get a steady idle then you have some other issue like a vacuum leak or fuel/air inconsistency (ICV, IAC, MAF, Intake Butterfly Seal, intake plumbing leak etc.).

Yeah you need to use the 'youtu' button above and insert into it the actual url for your vid (youtube have made it a couple more steps to get this now) As for your idle issue. No idea. :shock:
