Then for CAMS events it will be IPRA with the restrictor.
Prodsports requires standard turbo and manifolds, and I will be lobbying to keep touring car Nissan's out of Prodsports as best I can. I have no idea who let them in for the one hour when the R32's are homologated for touring cars and the R33 and R34 aren't FIA homologated for any category that I am aware of, and are coupe versions of a sedan. If they let these in then I'll turn up with my Charger, or a 2 door falcon or my ute.....[/quote]
If vetts, super charged lotus and GTR R35s can run. What’s the big deal? Really what’s the difference between your s15 and my r33?

Where do I start??????
Your 33 is a 2 door derivative of a sedan.
Vette's have been homologated by the FIA as sports cars since the late 50's
Supercharged Honda powered Lotus shouldn't really run, but has been given approval to run as a sports car and runs as a type II Group 2B car on the condition that a minimum number of cars, 100 of the top of my head, but could be less, are road registered in Australia.
The GTR 35 is homologated by the FIA as a sports car and runs in GT3.
My S14, not 15, would love one, was homologated in Australia to run in GTP Nations Cup, a sports car series as well as in Japan to run in the GT series so is homologated as a sports car with the FIA. The earlier S10 to S13 silvias were either homologated as touring cars or not at all.
Why shouldn't the 32 to 34 skylines run, same reason a series 1 RX7 is not eligible, they are touring cars according to the FIA homologation papers!!!!!
If you use your logic then any 2 door derivative of a sedan should run, so that means I could drag out my ute, my Valiant Charger, a 2 door Falcon, new or old Monaro, Mitsubishi Scorpion, DR30 Skyline, HR31 Skyline, GTA skyline GTB skyline C110 "ken Mary", Mini, Mini Cooper and so on.
CAMS is still the official and recognised body sanctioning motorsport in Australia for the FIA, the world motorsport sanctioning body so all categories that have any official sanctioning in this country is through CAMS.

Depends on how you look at it, there are plenty of nissans with the skyline badge on it. How many 4 door, GTR R32,R33s,R34s are there?
There will be people for and against.
The way I look at it. Production sports cars need/want more cars running, due to the lack of numbers, guess what, stuff like this will start to happen.
Don't

Stuff like that starting to happen has killed prod sports in NSW, the allow lotus/honda, they allow sequential gearbox, they allow GT3 and all the grass roots regulars get pissed off and go away.

Kind of sucks, that's why I sold my mx5.
Seems to be a problem in motor sport, he with the most money and friends change the rules to suit them selfs.

Re: Whats happening to the MX5 racing??
Lucky you guys aren't running in Prod Sports down here in Mexico. Ferrari 458's, Audi R8 LMs of course the Lambo's and any other current spec GT car you want through in. A lot of you wouldn't qualify in the 130 percent rule. The 911's, boxters, 944's and dattos have all gone to play else where and other than us most of the sports cars that are left are crazilly developed 2A cars. In saying that its nice to see a sports car winning the sports car championship this year with Ian Wilson in his very quick TVR rather than a GT taking home the silverware for winning a sports car championship. Afraid I'm jumping ship next year to a new car and new category . Happy to say MrB will be still flying the flag but I'm tipping it will be in one of those crazily developed 2A cars.

Re: Whats happening to the MX5 racing??
Prod sports is getting ridiculous!!
We built an MX5 100% to the rules, and yet we get passed in a straight line like we are standing still! and where all meant to have the same power to weight figures!! I know aero plays a part but not that much.
Last weekend there were only 15 entries all together. If s15's can run then so should a r33 or 32. Rx7's have been running for years.. on a single turbo!!. When did this happen?
Lotus only ever had a toyota engine.. but i think an early limited model ran a supercharged honda engine, but not sure they were sold and delivered in aus!.
I think the rules and regs is what is killing the catagory!, The same "cams" rules have been used in the mx5 challenge and that series is struggling.
Not sure how they can save the prod sports series in nsw.. it seems doomed. :/

The only way of policing though dan would be to lock the ecu's somehow. Its not hard to have two maps stored then switch as required!

Re: Whats happening to the MX5 racing??
Is the Challenge struggling because of the rules? Or because there is no 'championship' associated with the events, no reason to keep turning up. I have never heard the rules raised within the current mx5'ers doing the MRA, can't speak for those who haven't been turning up. It can't be because there are too many fast mx5s', there has been a core group of lesser built cars turning up this year.

Re: Whats happening to the MX5 racing??
Its a bit of both. Some people whinge because of the classes. Another reason i belive is there isnt a set championship.
Talks on the Mx5 challenge face book page are leading towards next year being re energized with new division rules (timed bracket racing like the 300) and a set championship.
Already over 10 drivers have said theyd commit, including some of the old fast cars!
