To neaten up the engine bay, I think you should paint this black! Just a suggestion!

POR15 unfortunately only comes in largish quantities (the smallest "Starter" kit was enough for my girlfriend to do 2-3 coats in her MX5's boot)
I think caliper paint might work, spray some into a jar and then brush it on. It goes on nice and thin so brush lines won't show on the casting.
It's how I did the caliper on my Mondeo, and they have held up fine for the past 2 years or so.

Every second MX5 you see online has that style of wheel. These are much more unique and interesting.
