Question re: the roof in the MX5

Postby Blade_Hunter » Wed Sep 18, 2013 10:59 am

Hi Guys, still into the idea of an MX5 to replace my beloved GT but I have a question, now to most of you it will be obvious but I can't actually find info on the net regarding this. Is the roof in the MX5 electric or manual?

Looking at around a 2001/2002 NB8B

Thanks for any help you can provide :)

Hi Blade
its manual in the NB, it takes about 5 se4conds to put it down or up. You just have to be careful when you fold it down that the fabric doesn't get caught under the stops on either side other wise it can get pinched when driving and put a small hole on the sides.

Cheers

Not sure exactly where you query is coming from but remember that you can get a Hardtop for them as well if you are concerned about any aspect of the Softtop.

If you have long arms and no roll bar it's even quicker to put up/down.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Thanks guys, not after a hard top, was just hoping it was electric so I could continue on my lazy path :). No biggy though, not exactly a big deal to drop it manually :)

There is a product to allow raising and lowering at speed from the drivers seat easily.

Thanks NitroDann, that thing is ingenious, simple but ingenious :). I will def be ordering one when I get the MX5.

Damn I just want to get this moving now, need to get my GT bumper touched up, sell it (like the whole car, not just the touched up bumper lol) then I can get my MX5 :).

I HATE waiting for things, I am such an impatient person lol.

It should be pretty easy to find a decent one, I don't care what year so long as NB8B or higher, Don't care if there are scratches, don't care what colour and don't care about a stereo as it will be replaced with a mirrorlink one straight away anyway. K's I am happy with under 150,000 so pretty much there will be a lot for me in the 12K and under bracket :).
