I thought the same thing, and had the same problem through the dipper with my helmet mount. Roll bar went in yesterday, bought a gopro roll bar mount today, should be perfect. Not sure what camera Stuart is using though, might not be feasible.

Stuart has a GoPro camera as far as I know. I suspect he was trying a different location for this event than he normally uses since his other videos are quite good.

I much prefer fixed mounts, helmet mount videos make me seasick :P

Have one on bonnet one on boot one on pedals and an overhead helicopter view?
Will that be ok Simon?

Try http://www.vboxaustralia.com.au/Video%20VBox%20Pro.html up to 4 cameras, GPS (10 or 20 Hz) no post processing of overlays and very comprehensive software plus simple to set up. Can also hook up a display for lap times, predictive lap-timing, speed etc. and can data log upto 32 CAN channels.

Not sure if joke, or PMS.

Magpie it is a shame it is still 4:3 video! The analysis is pretty good though. I have played with the system first hand for a GT3.

I agree on the 4:3 but the software and other stuff make up for it. I have the lite version however there is a HD version available now but there is no compelling reason to upgrade.

I'm debating at the moment if I'm going to hook it up to the CAN or stick with the micro I put module which allows RPM and 4 x 5 volt inputs. All my current sensors that go into the innovate are 5v so I can just piggy back off these signals. The CAN will not pass through the ride height and other sensors so if I want to overlay ride heights I will need to piggyback the signal and make the wiring in the car more complicated. However this is getting off topic...

I'm assuming he's joking - but in case you're not Stuart, I meant that I preferred your previous camera position which I'm assuming was mounted higher and pointing slightly down since it showed more of the track and it never disappeared from view.

But if you decide to add more cameras, I won't complain :P

Bugger all the talk about camera angles, I'm still chuckling over the comment about his ass sucking in a Sparco! BWWWWWAHHHAHAAAA.
Classic! That's sure as hell what I'd feel like!
Did have a play with a Gopro the other day, found the lack of discrete buttons etc difficult. was thinking of checking out a contour. The iPhone and ixus canon have been doing me so far with decent mounts, but I'd like to mount something externally...
...Working at the "big yellow bag" now so if there is something (electronics) you want rather than need, I am probably your man... PM me...

015CAR, try the phone app for accessing the gopro menus, or the LCD attachment, which gives you a touch menu system.

Just don't forget to turn Wifi off after you have it set right. Leaving it on drops your battery life from 4hrs recording to 45min.

The app's 7 sec delay is too frustrating to me. I didn't try the LCD though...
It's certainly not a perfect product, there is still room in the market for better in motorsport- it's suitability for things like helmet cam lead to inefficiencies in design for other applications...

Oh yeah I forgot, for some reason the iOS app and the Android app have a huge difference in delay time. Android is around 2-3sec, iOS is upwards of 6. No idea why.

Definitely not perfect but then, nothing is. There may be room for someone to improve, but you can guarantee it won't be under $500 if they do.

Not particularly fast but i guess it shows the lines i was taking.
I think it was a 66s lap
