Yeah I had a good little run with Brian, I was a little tentative with the "no passing except on the straights" thing, I didn't go under him when he had a little overshoot into 6 but I ended up giving him a run down the straight and into 1. I ended up rolling off down the straight and waving him by to give the car a chance to cool down after another lap or so. One thing I did notice is how much sooner I had to brake to get the car turned in, must be the difference between slicks/semis and probably also partly due to the locked diff :) Might have to save up for the Kaaz.

Cheers,

Tim

I'm sure he wouldn't have minded a little dice.

Tony Bonanno has a couple of Kaaz diffs he is trying to sell. Send me a PM and I'll pass on his contact details if you like. He's got a bit of gear for sale now he's moved from his turbo MX5's to a BMW.

Yep - they are up.
Keep in mind, that is a list of fastest times of the day, inclusive of Sprint and Clubman.
So for most people, that meant the Sprint ct. But not all, as some went home and didnt run the sprint.
And it is also missing a couple of 'second ' driver times. eg Pauline Graham

Magpie wrote:Interesting speeds on turn 1 as I can hold about 140 on the apex, however at the start of the corner it is 140 :( actually I can just put the foot flat at the start of the straight and leave it there through both turn 1 and 2 and this is with the car as a 1.6.

Haha - I could hold around 160+ ... BUT, I'd end up in Aratula or Warwick!!

I thought he sent them all down south to Boyracer/ I had a friend contact him about them and I think they were all gone, I might have to double check before I go out and get a new one.

Need to try to shift my 4.3 T2 first to finance that and go towards a new set of semis (if there is any leftover).

 so what tyres are you running? Without lap timing app- when I can look down to the speedo is at the point of lift for the turn (as high as 175) and as I come out from the apex ( once at nearly 140 mostly 130-135) roger said I was crazy looking at my speedo at all and I agree it slows me down. I'm on a buggered set of kumho v70s or such like. I'm still to break into the :64's regularly even with a turbo. Very short on talent still me thinks... I still say you are well and truly committed- more so with a small over shoot.... Will have new tyres for lakeside next. Not happy to have missed this one.
QR clubman 64.93 - lakeside 67 neat- first time out...

MX-5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY - 9 SEPTEMBER 2013

Postby MINX » Wed Sep 11, 2013 10:15 am

Yep
My RS3s are looking pretty second hand after Monday
If I was to guess from glances at speedo I would also say i was doing closer to 170/140 but Harry's GPS is not as optimistic :-(
Apex speeds probably average closer to kid 120s at slowest point according to Harry's
Feels faster! ESP when you can feel sideways drift and my ass is sucking in a sparco!

Love seeing track video but the camera is mounted a bit too low in this video Stuart, sometimes the track disappears from view so you lose all perspective; it needs to be mounted higher and slightly downward rather than parallel to the track.

I thought the same thing, and had the same problem through the dipper with my helmet mount. Roll bar went in yesterday, bought a gopro roll bar mount today, should be perfect. Not sure what camera Stuart is using though, might not be feasible.
