I am a bit gutted, but hay thing happen. The engine is a 1.6 to answer the question. I have a complete B6 and a short B6 in the garage so I can build another, it is just the time and effort. Having seen the inside, I am confident I can get way with a new piston and 4 valves and then basically rebuild my spare engine with all the parts out of this one. Other than the parts, the machining needs to be done.
I think the issue with this engine was not getting bigger valve seats installed. The machine shop said it would be okay, but I think they my have been machined too much, I will be able to assess this when I strip the head down and take a look at the other seats - there may be signs. The head is back on the engine at the moment so I can lift it out. Not sure when that will be, maybe tomorrow afternoon.

Hi Everyone,
It has been a while. Since my spectacular failure of the last engine, an opportunity came my way which has led me off down the turbo path. I will probably build another NA motor when I have more time, but here is the turbo stuff.
I have been working on it for some time (slowly). I basically picked up a B6T set up minus the turbo, its seen some action, but there is plenty of life in the motor I am confident.
The set up is ...
-- Stock B6T
-- Evo manifold
-- 550cc injectors (RX7)
-- GT2860RS
-- port matched inlet manifold
-- light Cr-Mo flywheel
-- Toyota COPs
-- MSPNP2
-- LC-1 wide band
-- BEGI re-route
-- a heap of custom stuff
This is a pic off the head internals - it is super clean
new wide band bung on down pipe.
sourced a low km GT2860R from an s15, it was a nightmare to spin the housings, also I wish I had made a jig for the down pipe before fitting
turbo fitted - not sure what that pipe is there for
I had to make a new water pump inlet, the stock one touched the turbo. - bought myself a TIG welder along the way - loving it. Ali is a bit more difficult to weld, but rewarding when you get it right
New coolant re-route, down the colder side this time.
I had to make a new exhaust section, was going to go straight through with not CAT, so made it out of mild steel initially
Decided having a CAT is a good idea, here is the result. Welded stainless for the first time.
I had to make some new turbo pipe work, the set up did not run with a T28 on the previous car, so some pipes were not quite right. Welding Ali pipe is pretty tough, it is really easy to blow holes in it. Worst thing is, you can do a few welds nicely and destroy the whole piece on the next. Also, it has to be super clean, contamination can make the weld porous.
Make some shrouding for the IC and the RAD
Butchered the existing radiator shrouds, so a bit messy but will work.
The air box is the next job.

Everything is ready to go as far as running the engine. When I first started it, it did not run well, after a heap of diagnostics and swapping out COPs and injectors I finally figured out that for some reason one of the injector circuits on my MSPNP2 decided not work anymore. The ECU is currently back at DIYautotune being fixed under warranty.
I have a few more jobs to do, but not much. The car is in desperate need of a general clean, it has been sitting in the garage for months and it is covered in a thick layer of dust.
We have E85 here in WA now, so probably going to tune and run on E85 - might need some bigger injectors though.

That would be awesome! I actually have a welder, just need some hand holding so I know i'm not going to do something stupid that damage the welder or myself.

Did some more fabrication today, but only a little. Did the Perth city to surf half marathon in the morning. Worked on the air filter shielding in the arvo. Also had Okibi over to show him some basics and to let him loose with the TIG (not that I am any kind of pro, I just know a handful of tips would have helped when I started). I must say Okibi, did pretty awesome for his first time with a TIG and on ali.
Back to the filter shield....
After tacking the filter shielding pieces together, I was not sure whether to run a bead along the length of the outer corner, because I feared messing up the piece, after a practice run on some scrap, amazingly, I managed to produce this
Note perfect, but I was super happy with it.

There must be something on my car that is frying the injector driver circuit on bank 2. It is super frustrating, the wiring is exactly the same as it was when I had it running last.
Back in contact with diyautotune - who are being great and very helpful. I am thinking of just re-wiring for sequential injection and getting some injector dynamics 1000cc injectors, to rule out wiring. Obviously my ecu will need fixing again.
If anyone has any thoughts on what could be going on with my car with regards to it frying the ecu injector driver circuit, please feel free to post up.

The inj circuit in the ecu is simple a Gnd, so you should be able to trace the problem with a DMM. Remove the ecu and power on the ignition, see what you've got on the inj wires at the connector, and then test the resistance, it should also be the same on both inj (around 12 ohms).
Also, what's "blowing" on the DIYPNP? The injector drivers are on the microsquirt module... Or are you running Sequential, in which case 3 /4 are on a little module.
Finally, you can even run the ms2 in test mode with only 1 inj wired up (bit of a pain to do, but worth making a makeshift inj plug with alligator clips etc) and test each injector individually with the ms2
