Dann, super impressive work! I love how this is all coming together...can't wait to drive it.
I think it would be cool to write your logo in a weld beading font. And it mean this graphically...not actually welded into my intercooler.

Bam! And the slow is gone!
Heaps more photos and all the info on my facebook page.
But put it this way, it makes 5psi revving it in neutral, so yeh, its pretty responsive I'd say!

Re: Ivan's Track NA6
I drove this back to Sydney last night and....WOW its fast!
It hasnt been dyno tuned yet but still feels pleasant to drive. Comes on boost nice and early and power delivery feels very smooth. very capable of inducing oversteer at will which is something I will need to learn given that I have had to exercise next to no throttle control over the last 5 years of owning this car.
Unfortunately I can't take it to the coming Circuit Club Trackday but I can't wait to take this thing out. Maybe my age is starting to show but this is a bit too quick to really enjoy on public roads!

PS> Thanks Dann. The workmanship is absolutely stand out. The car looks pretty stealthy and engine bay is very very neat.
Intercooler sits nice and because you can't see the sides of it, it just looks like a radiator!
I'll come back with pics and dyno results soon.

Re: Ivan's Track NA6
You will have to keep driving your VW on the road in that case, especially when you get on the dyno and fix that 7psi only thing its got going on now and wind it to 12 or 14

Re: Ivan's Track NA6
I took the car today to get dyno tuned at IS Motor Racing. The guys were pretty impressed with how neat it all looked. The map that Dann put on it wasn't too far off from what Indy tuned it to, which probably saved some dyno time. It was Indy's first time using the MSPNP and he was very comfortable in tuning with it.
So here's the main details.
The car made 161KW at about 5000RPM in 4th gear!!
Unfortunately the power suddenly drops after that. Boost hits a max of 15psi at about 4500 RPM and then drops off. So Indy believes that the T-boost controller is not capable of holding boost properly. Dann is now in the process of ordering a boost solenoid which will be wired into the Megasquirt and the car will be retuned. With an extra 2000rpm left to go theres probably a bit more power yet.
How does it drive?
Driving is traffic is no issue at all. You do have to keep off the gas as it spools very quickly and as much as it sounds very nice I think it can draw a lot of attention.
On the gas I would say this feels about as quick as my old S13 which has 3inch exhaust, intercooler and hi-flowed turbo!
That is until it hits 5000rpm. The second issue is the clutch might not be coping with the extra power and at 5000rpm it revs up to 6000rpm very quickly. Will have to address this after the boost issue is sorted.
I'll post up the graphs when I figure out how to do it.

That's an impressive figure, especially at only 5k RPM. What turbo is this running again?

Re: Ivan's Track NA6
I mean, it looks like a slipping clutch to me, but its hard to feel for that on a dyno. Instant sudden loss of power, with a sharp point to show its instant.
And its not a missfire I dont think.
Regardless when its done it will really haul arse.
PaulF: It has an eenie weenie baby used S13 t25, which was purchased second hand for $150.
Its a good effort I think, a couple of weeks ago and really not a lot of money ago at all it had 65wkw.

Re: Ivan's Track NA6
It dropped 3.5 seconds from it's PB at wakefield on its first timed lap.
I know that much

Re: Ivan's Track NA6
The PB now is 1'11'7. I've got Circuit Club Trackday at Wakefield on Dec 7, so I'm hoping to get to 1"10. Right now, the biggest gain for me is to brake later. I am breaking way too early and too much as I'm just not use to the higher speed.
The car was dyno'd again and with the boost solenoid wired up it's holding boost and power delivery is better. It's still showing the power drop though. The tuner reckons there is a problem with the engine, probably due to its age. He thinks this because the power drop doesn't happen as severely on the first run but when doing back to back runs and the engine heats up it becomes more noticeable.
He couldnt get the TPS to work though...not sure why.
For now I'm just going to enjoy the car and hopefully the engine won't blow up too soon. When it does, I'm trying to not get tempted to do a rebuild as I know I'll end up getting all upgrade parts with associated price tag. With the relatively mild mods that I have, a newer, low KM engine should last a while.

Re: Ivan's Track NA6
btw...the new tune is at 11psi and makes 135kw at 6500rpm, so not as much power as before. I'll post back after trackday to let you know how it goes
