So after a recent theft attempt I have gathered the new ignition parts I need. I attempted to use the new ignition switch to start the car last night but to no avail.
I've checked a few wiring diagrams but cant seem to located any mention of this plug (on ignition barrel with one RED/YEL wire and one GREEN) in the ignition circuit apart from maybe a "ignition interlock solenoid" but that only applies to autos and mine is a manual NA8.
Does anyone now where this is meant to go and if anything else is needed for accessories/ start than the six wires going into the ignition switch?
PLS Help identify where this plug goes

Re: PLS Help identify where this plug goes
Assuming this is your ?DM 199? NA8, just looked at my ADM 1993 NA8 (no AC & no PS), & it doesn't have that off-white plastic block attached to the ignition barrel with the red/yellow & green wires coming out of it.
Apart from the separate wiring for wipers/ washers/ lights/ horn, my ignition barrel just has six wires in an off-white plastic block coming out of the oppsite side into which the ignition key is inserted.
What year model did the parts you sourced come from, ie are you certain they're the same year & model as your MX5, & does your MX5 have an immobiliser?

Thanks for the reply and having a look at your car for me. My car is a Aussie del '96 na8. Im pretty sure the car I got the parts from was a jap na6 as the ignition switch is the same 89-97. Both cars have the place for this switch so I'm surprised yours doesn't. My car doesn't have an immobiliser.

Looks like those wires are for the Key Reminder Switch:

Also found this comment elsewhere:
"The yellow-red and green wires from the ignition key housing had been unplugged from the yellow-blue and green-blue wires".
The '96-'97 NA8 was different in a number of ways from the '93-'95 NA8 (16 bit ECU v 8 bit ECU etc), but is it possible the ignition switch had been changed prior to your ownership, so may not have been the original?

Thanks 93_Clubman for digging that up. After I ruled that plug out I went back over all the fuses again and found a blown 80A that I missed. Once I replaced that the car started no problem. Looks like they were only a blown fuse away from getting the car.

Yeah, fuse check was my next suggestion - indeed a near miss theft-wise!
