Re: Yemin's 'Tiny' SE
Tiny was taken to K-mart Tyres to get wheel alighment.. Was told one of the front wheel is tiny bit buckled so wheels are rotated. Much better and slight vibration at certain speed is gone now. But the tyres on the car is horrible and the noise is still there. My plan is to repair the buckle if it can be done and replace the tyres.

Re: Yemin's 'Tiny' SE
Couple of changes to Tiny..
- Added Voodoo gear knob and handbrake...
- Gone on weight saving and lost 21Kgs.. (20.9Kg to be exact)..
- Major service at Mania, replaced all fluids (Tran and diff with Redline, coolant, brake fluid, oil and filter and air filter changes)
- Took 'Tiny' to Eastern Creek Mortorkhana event (wet).. Did the event with 'Wassup' another forum member.. Great fun and good learning experience.. The car handled badly due to the cheap chinese tyres.. SO my next priority change will be the tyres on the 17s or a new 15 or 16s with decent tyres..
A few items still need to be changed - spark plugs (somehow the major service from Mania did not replace them), Mania did not have SE air filter so they used a normal NB air filter. SO I plan to buy new plugs (colder) and K&N filter to replace them myself. This will most likely be done next year cos I will be away a few weeks for work.. no top down
Some photos below..

Re: Yemin's 'Tiny' SE
This thread needs updating.
Lots has changed including the new 3" turbo back system I fitted today.
This is my favourite street mx5 I've ever dríven, ever.
Amazing, and an SE.
Amazing.
Mind you it is missing half its interior, so its not your average SE, its brilliant.
Wow.
Well done Yem11n!

Re: Yemin's 'Tiny' SE
The power of a Black SE. Does it also have an intake?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: Yemin's 'Tiny' SE
Its got ohlins, decent tyres, begi intake system, Adaptronic, Its pretty stripped, no carpet etc, some guages, lotus seats mounted very low, half cage, long angled short shifter, and a Full 3" exhaust (as of today). Probably forgetting stuff but thats the most of it.
The main thing was excellent suspension, very good seats and driving position, and an EXCELLENT tune, very very good tune, excellent delivery, good and punchy, he reports lots more punch now with the exhaust, no surprise.
You could just clutch kick it and slide hundreds of metres like a good NA.
I suppose I just had to have a go in one 'done right' (to my taste) to really appreciate it.
But this was just really really excellent. It felt like an NA a LOT. But was sexy black, and an SE.
Who would have guessed?

Re: Yemin's 'Tiny' SE
So basically I got Dann to build me a Turbo back 3 Inch stainless exhaust only with Varex muffler and nothing in between. Dann got the Varex through his supplier and it was included in the price for the whole system.
Dann, heaps of thanks mate.
You put in long hours into this system and in the end it is a high quality hand built system and I am very happy with the finish product. Really this is a full custom work and I know other performance shops will easily charge double the price based on time spent fabricating it. I always wanted 3 inch and could not accept the 2.5 inch systems that are available off –the-shelve.
I’m also glad you like the ‘SE’.. haha It is not in standard form but they do have potential if done right.
Turbo Spool: Hitting full boost is more punchy like Dann would put it. I can feel the shove now when going WOT compared to before I could hear turbo spinning/spooling but the push is not as noticeable. From what I notice driving around the back streets to work this morning, the turbo is spooling earlier thanks to the 3 inch downpipe, it is a big difference and very noticeable even at low speed.
For performance I think any SE owner should look at aftermarket ECU before anything else because it really transforms the car. The first mod I did was the Adaptronic ECU + injectors and I had comments from another SE owner when he test drove my car on the track saying ‘this must be aftermarket turbo’ but I am on the OEM turbo… with Adaptronic the full boost comes in so much earlier compared to the OEM ECU. Don’t really have to be Adaptronic, can choose many other brands that are available on the market.
Varex: I played around a bit more with the Varex on my drive home. I tested with both open and shut positions and there was no drowning at all. When Varex was open I could hear the exhaust burbling behind you but not intrusive at all and I can hear everything in my car because my car has no sound deadening or carpet. Really more annoying noise is from the bad road surface on some part of the highway. Once I hit the smooth bitumen the open Varex is sweet, even at a constant speed, I had music turned off totally just listening to it. When driving with the Varex shut on the highway I have to say it is the same as factory.
Basically I now have most of the add-on mods except the Intercooler which is on the way. I have ordered an 'Ebay' cooler to cope with Summer heat coming very soon. I hope to install it and take it to Dyno to get it tuned for new exhaust and intercooler. Will post the results from before and after the installation of exhaust.
Some photos of the work.. Use the link to see more photos. Dann finished very late so I have not taken an installed pic in day time yet.

My Varex is the same, really love it, now I just need a matching 3" exhaust system
