Hey Danny
With all that extra room up front maybe you should throw another rotor on and make it a four rotor
Great to see it progressing so well again

Cheers

Hi Dale, I need all that extra room for some trickiness that will be better than an extra rotor.

Yeah...gotta keep the iron hot now!

Danny

Great work Danny. Two questions?
What fuel are you going to use? E85, pump 98 or something else? I have seen E85 used with lots of success in high compression applications but a NA PP ??

Where did the "ninja stars" you made with the exhaust flanges get used? We're they just to space pipes temporarily? I can't see them in the final exhaust (from the FB pics)

Hi Mark, initially it will be run-in on pump 98 before being power tuned on E85. Yes, the benefits of E85 are the same as with forced induction but of a smaller magnitude.

Yes, the "Ninja Stars" have been used so far to assist with spacing of the tubes. However, I did envisage them to be a permanent fixture in the centre exhaust section. This is what we are currently working on.

Had some more feedback from Rohan Ambrose today regarding the performance of an equivalent spec 20B (Centreline Suspension's RX-7 Sports Sedan) as mine on an engine dyno in Melbourne this week. On pump 98 it yielded 508bhp @ 9,200rpm and over 300ft.lb of torque at peak! I'm getting the feeling that if I can piece together a robust fueling and ignition system this engine could get well into the mid 500's. 8) ...but I won't ever know this as it will be tuned on a hub dyno.

How good does this sound?!

Danny

Tien, it was involved in an accident/incident where it was damaged beyond repair. Can't remember if it was impact or fire or both.

Cheers,
Danny

That's because a rather large sore point within MNA (Mazda North America). The incident has been supressed.

On a brighter note...how good does the inlet manifold and ITB's look! 8) I can't tell you what the throttle body specs are because I haven't asked.

Seeing that most of the engine jewellery was now fitted it was time to progress with a bit more of the exhaust system.

First was the exhaust header flange. They were put on a bit of a diet too.

Since the rear section of the exhaust system is not quite OEM, the factory hangers were removed....

....and a short length of SHS was added along the edge of the rear beaver panel to not only stiffen it but to also support the rear muffler.

Here's some more gratuitous photos of the 20B PP. :P

Looks great!

Interested to see how you do the rest of the intake.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Danny

If Regie's coming the HIDE THE KEYS!!!

I was there yesterday for a while at the 'Detailing Day' wandered thru and said [with difficulty] hi!! Car was being worked on whilst on the hoist and spotted the exhaust, cleaned my glasses and looked again .. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm - now i've just played that 15 sec video, smiled [again with difficulty] and went to the garage, looked at my NA and said 'BITCH!! YOU DIDN'T SOUND LIKE THAT TODAY!!'

Great build Danny, understand 5% of the tech talk but loving it!

PS: If I keep smiling like that I won't have to go to the Specialist this week to get my stitches out!!
