NB8B REAR WINDOW HELP!

Postby narita » Fri Aug 23, 2013 3:12 pm

Hi all,

I was driving the other day and it wasnt overly windy BUT....

i had the drivers side (RH) window down half way and noticed in my rear view the back window was moving a fair bit.

the stitching is tight and ive spoken to other friends who own sports cars (R33 GTR, FORD PROBE & HONDA DC2) and none of them say they have this problem?

am i in need of an entire new roof?

the car is a 2001 so i realise it is most likely coming on in years.

thanks in advance.

Oh dear you are deffinately in need of a whole new car.
Window movement is indicative of severe chassy flex.

what you seem to not understand is that i have a NB which is infact a GLASS window.

i would expect movement in a cheap NA plastic window but i did not pay the premium price tag for a window that moves from simple gusts of wind.

I don't know why you are asking opinions from people that don't have soft top cars :? if their windows moved I would be extremely worried
If everything is solid I would say you have nothing to worry about. Even though it is a glass window it is only held in place by Vinyl fabric remember.

I like to put the fan on full, close the windows, and then alternate between recycle and outside air to make it look like the car is breathing.

Narita --if the soft top is tight when the top is up its very unlikely you have a problem. If it is not tight then a tension cable may be damaged or broken- I have never experienced that myself. Not sure what state you are in but anyone familiar with the model should be able to tell you.

I also have a 2001 nb8b, with the windows up or down my rear window 'moves' around a bit with the air flowing over the car. Its mainly at highway speeds though when I notice it not so much around town unless its windy outside and I do have a window or 2 open. I assume it would be normal this slight movement since its not fixed to a solid structure.

The old flex window in the soft top problem.

Piss on it, that should help or at least make you feel better.

If my hard top window started moving around, then I'd be worried ...

Don't you hate it when you get movement.

X2

Narita, it is not an issue. The soft top rear window in my NB does the same. The only solution is buy a hardtop or try driving with the window up when the soft top is up.
