My supercharged NA went over the pits today and is all permitted and Legal ... now I can start pimping the outside...

Mind sharing the total cost for the engineering process for the greater learnings of the community?

Don't have a build thread, I used a FFS kit, then added a NB diff with LSD, coilovers and Exhaust system and HD Clutch, then ... short nose crank syndrome attacked it so rebuilt the engine to high standard everything forged or teflon coated all ballanced, Kelford cams and BTW the new crank is a big nose which came out of a ford laser 1.3 .. they use the same crank, it's now running at 8.8:1 comp and 15psi boost estimate around 200 rwhp as it was 160 rwhp before engine rebuild on 10psi boost, has yet to go on Dyno but will let you know when it's been done,

Cost was $600 for engineer, $235 for emmisions test and $85 for the permit inspection, but the biggest hurdle is all the waiting, took 2 months to get the permit to modify, plus weeks waiting for the aproval etc... they drag it on a bit but it feels worth it now i got my permit

By The Way I can't praise Tom at FFS enough, he really goes out of his way to help and the kit is so well thought out, I'm a first time mechanic and I fitted it myself in a weekend.

As much as I dont like a lot about the FFS, the hardware is very very high quality.

as I said I'm a first time mechanic so I found the pretuned fuel and timing cards easy to use and easy to adjust, and when my crank broke i needed new pulleys for the new cranK Tom sent me a selection of different size pulleys express post at no cost whatsoever so my personal experience with FFS has been exemplary

May I ask who was your engineer & emission test location? This would be very helpful for other local Perth owners contemplating the same pathway. :mrgreen:

I had the emissions done at Garage 101 in Vic park they charged me $235 including dyno run up to check all is safe

The engineer was Terry Southam in willeton cost was $600 he was very thorough but also very forgiving

Both were recommended to me and they're both great to deal with

Thanks for the drive when in was in its first incarnation. Can't wait to purchase some other items from you so I can bum a drive in it again :lol:

I was very impressed with the power delivery then which had me watching the YouTube fast forward clips on the set up.

This will pave the way for others considering the move in the future. It's also good to see something being certified over here in the west.

I have nearly finishing installing my supercharger kit from FFS Tom. I cannot praise his costumer service enough either. Where most people will be like sales made not interested in helping anymore Tom has been nothing but usefull.

I highly recomend dealing with FFS and I cannot wait till my car is complete. I may engineer it as well, I believe in Canberra it may be a little more expensive though.

Anyone know anyone in Canberra that is good and charges a decent amount.

I hope to have around 200rwhp as well.

Hang on, Laser 1.3!?!

Did the Aussie market ever get the 1.3?

I thought the smallest we got was the 1.5 single cam carby engine?

Granted my Laser knowledge is mostly KF/KH and a little KE.
KA/KB I never toyed with.

I still kind of want a KF TX3, or a KF Laser S with a TX3 hybrid engine (TX3 twin cam head on the S single cam BP block)

Correction the crank:

it came from a 1.6 laser engine, but I believe it's the same crank in the 1.3

I believe the donor was 1998 or around there with very low ks...
