Issues include cost of compliancing the first one, along with routing of pipe and factory parts in the road for a high performing kit with a lot of potential.

Daily driver no contest at all- an NC but you would be better off paying a bit more and better still an auto if you battle the horror of driving to work in what passes for an efficient network. With WRX's and Cobra replicas floating about you are well served with performance and wow factor. For a daily driver an MX5 is hardly a front running car in my view.

Here's the MX5's ive owned in chronological order:

1. 1990 NA6 with an NA8 motor
2. 2000 NB8B
3. 2006 NC1
4. 1991 NA6

With my experience in mind I suggest that if you haven't previously owned an NA, then get an NC.
If you have previously owned an NA, then get an NB.

Furthermore, if you're planning on modding then get an NC.
If you're planning on keeping it stock then get an NB.

Hope this helps.

NC - stands for Nice Car.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I know that this is very academic at the moment and I will get a different answer from everyone. I know that I need to get out and drive them but if I start doing that now I'll purchase more quickly than I intend to :)

Awesome! So glad to hear she's still going well. That was my first introduction to a 5 and will always have a place in my heart.

If it were up to me I'd sell the WRX and buy something else as a daily but *she* won't let me. She loves it and it's part of the reason I think she may prefer an SE.

This was my initial impression also. I prefer the look of the SE but when I get behind the wheel of a few I may change my mind.

No chance of that happening. My wife won't drive an auto!

I hope for your sake it's not still around at the end of the year when I'm looking to buy!!!

One thing everyone will agree on is that an NB will feel a lot more refined than an NC, and an NC will feel a lot more modern than an NB.

Dann,
I have just noticed your profile! Have you finally gone to the dark side? and if you have let me know your chest size and I will get knitting straight away. :)
Greg.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Then think she'll find the standard SE a bit disappointing.

It really comes down to personal preference. The NC is a better car but it never grabbed me the way the NA/NBs did so I bought an SE. My Commodore appeals to me more than the NC does. :P
